High altitude is the shit. Great bouldering and route setting, nice machines and weights, fantastic staff. The sauna is a great reset from nights spent out. I found a rat here and became friends with him. I’ll add a pic. His name is hazen.

We love the kids climbing program at High Altitude Fitness in Truckee, Ca. The coaches are amazing and help our 7 year old climb with confidence. It’s amazing what an incredible facility and top notch coaches can do for kids learning a new sport. Our son started of as a novice at best and now climbs with confidence and has so much fun.

We decided to cancel our membership as we have been doing more fitness outside and at our favorite yoga studio. Giovanni was amazing at helping me cancel our membership quickly as well as keeping our son’s membership current. Great employee!

Great facility, great route setting, but absolutely do not work there. Too many of my friends have gotten banned from the gym after working there, its quite the bummer for the community!

Edit: Thank you for the stats, but I'm more concerned at how many prior employees no longer have access to the gym after working there than former employees with memberships.

Kelly's class is just what you need on a Sunday evening. She reminds you to breathe and does an amazing job offering ways for more support or a deeper stretch. She's great!

Great sets, great gym. We loved climbing and working out here. However, the desk support was pretty aloof and only gave us 6 out of 7 days on our week pass because they were closed for Christmas.

Shari is my favorite yoga instructor at High Altitude, and the always full room speaks for itself. She is so thoughtful with talking through each pose and how it helps the body. I always leave the class in a perfect state of zen, unbothered by anything.

I have come to this gym twice while in town to boulder, and I think it's pretty good for a smaller town gym, but it's a smaller town gym.

Pros:
Decent sized lead wall and a pretty small (30-40 problem) bouldering wall.
The exercise areas seem very nice, but I haven't used them.

Cons:

It's a little annoying that the only bathrooms are downstairs.
I also don't really like the setting here, it's a lot of awkward moves that don't flow.
Bad labeling, it's kind of hard to tell what the start is, where the end is, etc.
It is *expensive*! $36 for a day pass and shoe rental for a tiny wall like this is out to lunch. If it was $25 or under I'd call it a good deal but taking my cousins to climb cost us over $150 for 90 mins. If it was cheap, the other cons wouldn't matter, but it isn't.
