Higher Learning was a great place! I've been attending for about 3 semesters so far and the first 2 for the state test were incredibly helpfull. Mr. Roda is a great teacher and that makes the long hours a bit more tolerable. He always makes sure that you understand the topic before we move on and he doesn't make the material too hard and visibly tries his best to help everyone understand the question.

If you want to improve your ELA/Math skills, want math hacks, or just need an academic boost, then you should attend higher learning. The learning environment is great and I would recommend it to all my friends.

As a student that attended the Higher Learning Tutoring Center, I’m proud to say that my skills have definitely improved over the years in Higher Learning. The 8th Grade teacher Mr. Roda has done an amazing job at helping us develops skills to take on the Specialized High School Exam in December. I’ve learned how to find easy solutions to math problems that can be seen confusing as well as learning how to understand passages better and being able to solve the questions after it. Higher Learning is a great way to learn and develop skills for the grades it teaches!

I’m a parent of a student in Higher Learning, and I really love Higher Learning! My child has learned so much, and now they’re excelling their classes. The classrooms are clean, the teachers are really nice, and even though some of them may be silly at times, they can pull it back together in order to keep the children on track. 10/10, would recommend!

I am currently attending the summer session in Higher Learning in preparation for the Specialized High School Admissions Test and I would highly recommend!! All the staff are incredibly welcoming and Mr. Roda is an amazing individual. As a mentor, he is extremely kind and adjusts his teaching to ensure everyone receives the help they need. I am especially fond of how he allows students to leave notes anonymously if we feel uncomfortable speaking in class. I feel that the homework amount is manageable and the his teaching style has helped me improve significantly in comparison to Day 1. I appreciate his repetition of concepts and willingness to go over/reteach us concepts that we may have forgotten since school was let out. He is extremely knowledgeable and always answers every question that arises. I'm truly grateful for this center and I love their attentiveness to detail. There are water refill stations as well as clean bathrooms. Moreover, the classroom is maintained at a comfortable temperature; at one point the staff asked for our opinion to adjust accordingly.
My only concern is that you can only contact the office and not the teacher directly. I've gotten used to having that privilege of being able to ask questions anytime via online communication platforms at home. However, we are given the opportunity to speak with Mr. Roda before and after class to ask about any topics that was not clarified during discussion.
Unfortunately, there is no Wi-Fi at the location (that I know of) which does not affect me drastically, yet I would have appreciated if it was provided to message my parents.

That being said, I would rate my overall experience thus far 5 stars. 🙂

I am a former student from Higher Learning Tutoring Center. My experience here was amazing. My teachers taught me a lot of material that helped me during the school year. Not only did we learn, the teachers taught us in fun ways. I have learned so much, and I recommend this tutoring place.

Macallan Yu - Higher Learning is not a bad place to learn specific things that you need help on. The higher level classes (based on grade levels) help you improve your skills, it refreshes your brain and it allows you to go deeper in thought. For example, in Mr. Roda's, class (SHSAT going to 8th grade), the skills he teaches helps students to sharpen ELA and Math skills in many areas. It can be applied on multiple types of tests, and especially, on school curriculums. However, the thing about Higher Learning is that the spacing of all the classrooms and the placement of them is pretty good, it seems a bit cramped together. When the classes end, everyone rushes through the hallway to leave through the stairs or the elevator. Personally, I used to take the elevator but I use the stairs, and as I take the stairs, it looks a bit weirder than the typical stairs. Also, many people rush down the stairs increasing the risk of someone tripping and falling. Other than that, I think Higher Learning is A GREAT PLACE TO LEARN NEW CONCEPTS!!!

Thanks to Higher Learning, I couldn’t have felt more confident and happier today. I attended Mr. Roda’s SHSAT class during the summer and fall, and my growth during those months were clearly shown on my results after the exam, as I was able to get into my first choice. The practice tests were great, and the scores were calculated accurately. The classes covered all subjects with strategies and tips that proved to work very well. The office staff are really nice, and I felt comfortable in the learning environment. Higher Learning is the place to go if you want to challenge yourself for the better.
