I chose HTA because I’d always dreamt of cooking professionally. Since I had zero culinary work experience I wanted an educational program that could quickly and affordably give me the skills and industry connections I needed to succeed.

The value that HTA provides is easily worth thousands of dollars and is 100% free for students. They give you a knife kit to use in class and a separate one to keep after you land an industry job, a textbook to keep, two uniforms to wear in class, direct connections to local employers, and instructors who have decades of combined industry experience.

I was part of the inaugural HTA Phoenix Line Cook Apprenticeship cohort in spring 2024 and the program does have room for improvement as it grows. There were a number of occasions, inside and outside the classroom/kitchen, when students were given confusing or conflicting information. I hope that HTA builds systems to ensure all information and instruction given to students is well organized and has been double checked for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.

HTA is an incredibly fast paced two month program. It’s designed to give you the basic skills needed to start working in a professional kitchen and continue learning on the job. Everyone at HTA supports your success but ultimately you’ll get what you put into this program. If you’re diligent, work hard, and keep a good attitude HTA is a fantastic opportunity that you shouldn’t pass up.

When I came into this program I was lost and having difficulties in my life and I didn't know how to move forward. Then I was introduced to the program through neighborhood ministries and I was glad I did because it has opened up so many doors and opportunities for me. Chef Eboné was patient, caring and worked well with all of the students. Both chefs are very knowledgeable and really care about what they are doing. I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to attend this great program and start the road to a better life thank you HTA.

I recently finished HTA's 90 hour class on preparing to be a prep cook. It was totally relevant, with knowledgeable chefs and great recipes which required teamwork to successfully prepare. I should quickly write that before those exercises, we were taught knife and kitchen safety, knife skills and overall kitchen cleaniness for the sake of our products and consumers. Chef Mitchell, Chef Ebone', Chef Justin and Chef T.C. all brought knowledge, experience and teacher's hearts to the class. I strongly recommend their teaching and this class to anyone thinking about working as a cook and perhaps later as a chef.

I love this class. I'm Teanna aka TT and I'm thankful, grateful and also blessed to join this HTA Training Academy. I'm attending the July classes and got 1 week left. Chef Eboné and Chef Tim are AWESOME, CARING, FUNNY and filled with KNOWLEDGE. They have BEAUTIFUL HEARTS of GOLD. I thank God for the chefs and their REMARKABLE GIFT/TALENT. As GOD closes one door he will open another and I am ready to walk through.

the actual location is 1250 east hadley st suite 6. That is not the location of the culinary program, that is where you will meet with Marilyn who will tell you will be getting a $50 stipend daily only to then proceed to tell you, you will not be getting that check until you are two weeks into the program, only to then proceed to tell you that your check has to get here from Los Angeles from FedEx and you might not be getting it until next week on Monday. This in my opinion is very serious and not professional at all. This is a supposed Non-Profit and if you decide to say something about your check, they will call you ungrateful because you are getting the classes for free. Also MOST of the meals you make there are MEXICAN, and God forbid you're Mexican and know how to make them. The chefs don't know how to make a proper guacamole.

I am one week (of three) into the prep cook Pre-Apprenticeship training. We are the first students in the Phoenix program. I love what I've learned in five days, with chef's knife skills and measurements and a good emphasis on cleanliness and safety. Chefs Mitchell, Eboné and Justin are all superb, patient, knowledgeable teachers. Five stars!!

Was a great time in class. The chefs will assist you if you want/need. Only downside is the timing of the classes, but the chefs and union reps really did work with my job to lighten the stress of doing both.
