The two women who own this studio are amazing. Staff greets everyone by name, the place is immaculate and the teachers are very caring and professional. I’m so happy they’re expanding and sharing their vision of what an inclusive studio can be- I’m a tall, heavy set man in my late fifties. Not all studios are welcoming, these folks have built a community. Thank you Jessica and Kathryn!

Truly the best studio I’ve had the opportunity to practice at in California. The teachers are knowledgeable, kind and helpful during classes, the facilities are kept clean and the energy of the staff/other HYR regulars is contagious as soon as you walk in the building, making this studio a beautiful community to be a part of. Cannot wait for the second location to open!

HOT YOGA REPUBLIC is the most special yoga studio in Marin.  I practice there regularly but recently have been on the road a lot.  This morning I was back in class and simply rejoicing in being there...the community is diverse (age, gender, fitness level) and supportive and kind.  The teachers are expert and dedicated to helping you find strength and balance, in both mind and body.  The women who own it are both positive, funny and oh so welcoming to everyone who steps through the door.  It is truly a sanctuary of good feels.  And if you like it hot - it is SUPER hot!  AND, their dedication to heat and humidity matches the dedication to how clean it is.  I don't know what I would do without it and am so deeply grateful for its place in my life.

I’ve thought long and hard about writing this and I have come to the decision that it’s important to share so that every body type can consider all opinions before entering this movement space.
I have practiced hot yoga for almost 20years, have 500+hrs of TT in various modalities and subjects.
I have a fat body and a history of E.D.’s and have found yoga to be a tool of self and community love and part of my healing tool belt. If this is you, be very cautious of this studio. There’s a large clientele that can be very triggering to work out around.
The room can be hot but personally it is not as hot as I’d like or am used to and I believe this is because there’s no ventilation or fans to circulate air. They open the doors to get air in but that changes the climate constantly.
There’s definitely a community of people here and those who love it, love it.
There’s a few teachers that are absolutely phenomenal.
The room can be very chaotic because there’s no mat placement or protocols for it that they’ve baked in to their studio so it’s a free for all and just an absolute disorganized zoo for busy classes. People aren’t inclined to moving for other practitioners generally and it’s just….if you know, you know.
Also, in my opinion, this is not a place to come to for yoga yoga serenity. People talk during class and over teachers. They have their phones with them and go in and out of class at any time constantly to breath or walk anround or take an call. often there are teachers practicing whatever they feel like somewhere in the room.
You may come across the occasional teacher that Oms but you will definitely not encounter Kirtan or chanting or harmoniums at this “movement” studio.
I practiced here for a while and ultimately decided to stop going because it just wasn’t safe for my psyche or meeting my requirements for a hot yoga space as a customer and when I voiced this it was met with a very icky experience. I welcome any response from the owners.

Hot yoga during a pandemic?
A friend convinced me this place was as clean and safe as any place I would ever find and wow was he right.
This studio is sleek, beautiful, and CLEAN. Filtration systems for covid specifically in mind, large room with people well spaced and all wearing masks.
The owners are absolutely lovely human beings. It was such a joy to be somewhere doing something good for myself with other people while still feeling safe.
I’ve been to a million yoga studios in my life. This is already my hands-down favorite.

The studio is very clean and modern with an upbeat atmosphere. The heating system and humidity were perfect (and working!) and the teacher Kathryn is simply the best there is. If you're after the classic 90-minute 26&2 posture series (you know the one, but that name shall not be spoken out loud) this is the place! I love it here.

Hot Yoga Republic is a new yoga studio in San Rafael. They took all the best yoga instructors from Marin and beyond making this new studio above and beyond the rest. This studio was created by yoga instructors and takes the best parts of an experience making it better for students and instructors. The place is absolutely beautiful inside with in person classes as well as a library of home classes for members to access. Classes for men and women with music in a positive cheerful atmosphere.
