My son was attending HRA as headstart. I really loved the attention they gave me and all the information. Unfortunately my son was having a tough time getting used to not being around me and left me no choice than to get him out.

The energy assistance program is great and I’m so thankful to the state for offering it, however when I visited the HRA office in New Britain and I left feeling defeated and disrespected just for asking a single question. It’s almost like the staff here is trained to be mean and rude. When people are struggling and the person that’s supposed to help has an attitude it make the situation worse.

Depending on who you are working with you will get great service, but I did run into some not so nice or professional service. I also went to drop some papers off that my mother needed. Not my case but they were trying to tell me her information and told me I needed to write a letter and sign something on the case. I kept explaining how this isnt my case so I shouldn't have access and that I'm just there to drop off some papers and the lady was very rude and forceful. Other than that every other situation has been fine.

Decided it was ok to check children private areas without telling parents then when questions asked they don't answer. Tried saying it was ok but website directed from there website to the states ( where there funded from) shows its only ok with PRIOR WRITTEN NOTICE and give parents REASONABLE time to be the which I was not given. Never again please beware they lied to my me many times because I was questioning them oh and the brand NEW director laughed at my concerns smh all the work I had to take off because of this school!!!!!!!

-There was a secretary who scheduled my appointment for food stamps a month from my visit.
-The secretary I spoke to said they do not email.
-The social worker I worked with wanted my password and questions to my password.
-The other people working in the office next to her kept interrupting our meeting.
-I would have just gone straight to DSS if I had known the help was going to be this bad.
