The team at the Blaine Huntington Learning Center worked on ACT prep with our twins in between their 1st and 2nd attempts at the test. Each twin had 5 x 1 hr sessions total with the HLC tutors and, respectively, they improved their overall ACT score by 7 points and 3 points. What the HLC team really helped our twins with was time management skills for taking the test, most notably with specific reading skills that helped them digest the test questions faster and more effectively. On their first attempt taking the test - before HLC - they both felt that they ran out of time in all of the test sections. They felt rushed and left frustrated. After working with the HLC team, they felt they had a better strategy for how to manage time during the test and that they were able to read through test questions/supporting data/articles significantly faster. They felt they went in to their 2nd attempt "ready for game time". Wonderful experience with the HLC team and SOOOOOOO glad we enlisted them to support our twins in their ACT efforts.

My grandson went to Huntington . He went from failing to excelling in school. And he has a lot more confidence in life because of the help he received. The teachers make learning fun instead of a chore. Every kid is different and they figure out just what works for that individual to excel and learn. All the staff and teachers are amazing! They have one goal. Learn and grow with confidence!

Thought I would share my experience with Huntington learning center. Like a lot of kids, my daughter was falling behind in reading and math etc. Both my wife and I were working and we're not able to help her with her needs. And like most of you we aren't teachers so it was hard for us to get through to her. We enrolled her in Huntington learning center via zoom meetings. Her teacher was so good with her that she was able to connect with my daughter in a way that her parents could not. She really did improve leaps and bounds. I cannot think this learning center enough for helping out my daughter and us really as parents. We felt helpless at the time. Huntington got my daughter back on track. I can't recommend them enough.

Very shady business. I took my daughter in for an ACT prep eval and potentially use their services for the exam prep. She went in, took the test and when sat down with Josh Iverson to go over the results in preceded to insult both myself and my daughter by diminishing her chances of getting into the schools that she hopes to attend by saying without their program she'll not get the score on the ACT that would be required. He then tried getting me to sign a contract, without giving me the prices and options ( anything thinking shady used car salesman yet... i know i was the entire time... ). i told him multiple times that i wouldn't make a decision until i saw numbers and had a chance to talk to my wife about this program and cost. Josh begrudgingly gave me the bid sheet... to which i was taken back at a quote based upon $90 / hour for exam prep... a $195 academic evaluation fee and a $150 registration fee. oh.. by the way, this was based upon the minimum of 40 hours of "work... " That would be a minimum commitment of $3945, to start with. And since he says that the increase of score that she was seeking was requiring at least 50 hours, or more... yup, you guessed... the quote would be higher.

here's what's even more interesting. when we left i asked my daughter what the practice test was like and her answer was very telling... she said "not hard." But she also said that she was confused why Josh had told her to take her time on the practice test and not to worry about the time nor finishing. This became particularly interesting when he told us that the justification for the cost was the need to "speed up her testing and that would take work... " So Josh is a straight up scam artist.

i cannot and will not recommend Huntington Learning Center to anyone. Due to the area that i live in and the private schools that the majority of my neighbors children attend i will be certain to warn them of this business and used car tactics as well.

simply put.. stay away from this place. there is no integrity.

In response to the statement from Huntington below:

we had a credit remaining from our youngest because we were unimpressed with the services supplied to her last summer. This is also why we did NOT renew services going forward. We decided to try and use the remaining credit balance towards our 17 year olds ACT. That didn't happen because you decided to refund the money instead of what i had asked for, which was to use the remaining portion to see how things went for the ACT prep. However, because you didn't like the fact that we were not committing to a particular program and because i questioned your rates of $90 per hour, you just contacted my wife and said you'd be refunding the difference.

As a response to your "average increase in ACT scores of 5.4 points.. " i would say this statement is laughable and misleading as you directly instructed my daughter to "take her time." which created a false score because she didn't finish the test. In fact, she said you made that statement more than once. So i would argue that a person would see increase in scores simply by finishing the test, which you clearly do not want people to do in their initial testing because it shows false gains when they do have a score increase from finishing. Especially if they were someone like my daughter that had a high percentage of questions answered correctly.

Your used car tactics and misrepresentation of facts furthers my point that this is a place one should avoid.

I take my daughter here and she enjoys it. Very friendly staff and great with communication on her progress. Thankful to have a place that I can get her the extra help she needs. Definitely recommend!

We are bringing our daughter here and she loves it. Very professional, they give you updates on the progress whenever you ask. Conference once a month. A bit expensive but worth it.
