Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken - New Carlisle, Ohio

In November 2024 my husband and I were both getting over COVID and because of this we could not visit our family for Thanksgiving so we decided to get Lee's to celebrate together. I ran into this store to order and ordered quite a bit of food as we wanted some leftovers for the coming days as we continued to get better. The man who ordered after I did wanted dark meat but was told there would be a wait as my order had taken up the last bit of dark meat; the manager, Keri, who was working the front of the store immediately gave him a discount and apologized for him having to wait but made sure another batch of dark meat was dropped into the friers for him. I was absolutely amazed as someone who works in customer service it can be really hard to find someone who truly cares for customers these days. I just had to commend her right then and there because there are not enough people working in customer service who truly put the customer first. The food was also delicious!

I’ve been going to this location in New Carlisle for many years and I’ve told myself time and time again these past few times that maybe this time the food will be like it use to be, maybe each time I’ve gone they just finished a rush or maybe I was just unlucky. However, I’ve come to the conclusion that this store is just horribly managed and the “famous” recipe is a joke to them.

Let me present to you my buckeye box meal, which is suppose to be 4 piece breast strips and a side item. I am unable to eat the chicken because it was stiff as a board and when I tore it apart to look for even a little bit of chicken under the breading, I was greeted by nothing but gristle and tendon.

Bottom line is I’ve left feedback with the stores website to inform them of this terrible food and now on here to warn all of you against trying this food. Instead I would recommend if you want some famous recipe chicken to go have some KFC, the real chicken king.

I've been coming to this Lee's for 40 years and it has gone downhill. The wait times for food are anywhere between 5-30 minutes. I've watched someone make a $175 order after I put my small order in and I had to wait for their food to be made. For some reason they serve whoever started their order first not who finished their order first. Nobody will say a word if it's going to take 30 minutes for you to get your food, they just let you wait by the crowded counter. Not one time has any employee apologized for the wait time.
The chicken and wedges used to be the best around and made the same way every time, now the food is seasoned and cooked differently according to who is working that day.
We've had large carry out orders for some family get togethers and every single time they forget at least one thing.
Very poorly managed business.

I tried to get on the website for customer feedback. It says to allow time for the “form” to load. 10 plus minutes later still nothing loaded. It’s like they don’t want to hear the feedback. My pops was on the way home last night stopped to get me a pot pie cause I am feeling under the weather. When he went to order the pot pie the workers told him that they were “too busy” to make one. For someone who has worked in the food industry for a little under 10 years after hearing that I was flabbergasted. How can you have something on the menu then when someone orders said item you just say “we are too busy to make that.” Is that what they are told to do when they don’t feel like doing their job? Just say “I’m too busy” to do my actual job. I get places get busy. I truly do, especially had been working in food for so long myself, but to refuse to make an order for an item you offer on your menu is ridiculous.

Went there last night called in 2 pieces of fish get there. He said they were still frozen. Gave me one piece that was hard. So I got liver and gizzards in half of the container. Was breading and now they're large is in a cup too expensive for poor food

Fast friendly service, and the best chicken dinner and fish sandwich around. The Chicken Livers are phenomenal with a little gravy!

Went to the store and ordered a 12 piece family meal with four sides ask the young man who was taking my order if it would be cheaper if I got a 16 piece said yes i also got a large oder of liver he still charge me for the 12 piece and added the liver and 4th side as extra which was more expensive while the girl in the back who was getting our order ready said to the guys up front put a napkin on top of our chicken my husband had ask for two of the pieces of chicken to be thighs, they finally got our order together, when we got home and got things out of the bag the chicken was so greasy and the meat was tuff and they only gave me one whole side of mashed potatoes and a single side of mashed potatoes and 5 potato wedges that we did not order that were in with the biscuits, my husband got one wing not the two spicy thighs he asked for

Asked for a liver meal. I can't even bite into it. It's tuff. Looks like a gizzard. So upset. So I called and was able to get my order fixed. They said it was gizzards. Apologize about the mix. I came home and wasn't eble to eat it. The taste from the gizzard left a not so great taste. But glade they fixed the mix up.
