I was contacted by this company because my resume matched the experience of an opening I was interested in learning more about. I generally am okay with making small talk about life and family. But the questions became very intrusive very quickly. The screener, Charmagne, asked me if I was married and what my husband does for work. I asked her how this was relevant to the position. She said it was because it was important to know how I would be covered if I couldn't be there for my kid. She went on to say that this would be revealed to the client and these are things that would be taken into consideration. Disgusted I hung up. I called up to speak with someone in management. I spoke with Kevin-one of the owners. He basically parroted the same thing, but in a nice way. He apologized if I was offended, but said this is information that they gather for their clients. I could not believe my ears. How is the fact that I am married with children relevant to my ability to do the job I told him to take me off of their list. So I can only assume that there have been many people who may have not been able to land positions based on this status due to this screening process.
