We had a very enjoyable time visiting the Marietta College campus.

The surrounding town has a rich history. General Putnam was given a land grant by the United States for his service in the Revolutionary War. He chose the area that is now the town of Marietta. General Putnam also sold lots to many former Revolutionary war soldiers in exchange for their land grants.

The school offers more than 50 undergraduate majors across the arts, sciences, and engineering, as well as Physician Assistant, Psychology, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and Athletic training graduate programs. It has a beautiful campus that encompasses approximately three city blocks next to downtown Marietta and enrolls 1,200 full-time students.

The original school was Muskingum Academy which was started in 1797 by the citizens and General Putnam. It was the first place of higher learning in the Northwest Territory and its first instructor was a Yale Graduate, David Putnam.

I graduated from Marietta quite a long time ago now (1986), but it is essentially the same great mix of a solid school with a low student/teacher ratio, and a beautiful historic town with nice outdoor scenery, but not so big you can get into a lot of trouble. Being able to get basically one-one help straight from your professor is something you will never get at a big school. Priceless. I have wonderful memories of Marietta, and I got a great education there.

My son toured the campus and fell in love with it! We had toured a couple other schools, that I thought couldn't be beaten, but he found his college!! He was accepted and sent in his registration payment!! He's going to be playing football for the college (OLB) and found a major he never considered which will be a perfect fit for him (sports management)! He received a great scholarship package and was on par with all the other colleges he had looked at and applied for FASFA (68% paid for through scholarships/grants). I'm so excited to see him so excited about going to college and getting to live out his dream to play football on a collegiate level!!

I like the Town, but not much to do around campus. Horrible location not close to any major cities. The college just laid off a lot of employees due to the school's financial crisis. For the price of this college I would just go to Ohio University because it is closer to Columbus and Cincinnati plus cheaper tuition with nicer facility’s. Marietta College is a joke. Washington State College of Ohio just got approval for 4 year programs. This college is very corrupt and should be under FBI investigation for how it handles funds.

I went on a tour around the campus with my brother, and it is amazing! the food in my opinion is great, the people there are very kind, the campus is small, so you don't have to run from one side of the city to the other just to get to class. a very safe city and environment and i really would like to go there when i can.
