I simply cannot adequately express how much Maverick has changed my daughter’s life, but I am certainly going to try here. It wasn’t until the end of 2019 that we were so blessed to find Kelly English and this exceptional private school. My daughter is profoundly dyslexic and was having extreme anxiety within the public school system. She does not fit into the standard “one size fits all” educational curriculum and the public school system was causing her significant emotional damage and her confidence level to plunge. Since starting with Maverick in the beginning of 2020, my daughter has thrived. Maverick’s ability to teach outside of the box has been instrumental in her educational success. She is able to learn in a non stressful environment where all students are included and not left behind. She actually enjoys learning and attending school is no longer a daily struggle. Our family will be forever grateful for Kelly English and the entire staff at Maverick. We love watching our daughter’s confidence grow while receiving an outstanding education. Thank you Maverick!

I am the grandmother of a child who has gone to Maverick for several years. I have been with my daughter many times to pickup my grandson and couldn’t help but notice the depressing and dirty campus Maverick has, the play area is mostly asphalt, I have had to buy him many more clothes and shoes than necessary because his wardrobe is impossible to clean.. Furthermore I am very disappointed in his lack of knowledge about writing his letters and numbers. He can neither say, recognize or write letters or numbers. As a result of these deficiencies, his mother and I have worked over the summer to teach him these important skills. He.is.learning surprisingly fast. At Maverick he did learn how to use a computer to play games but not life sustaining educational skills.
I am also aware of many inappropriate actions by children that went unchecked that I believe should have been addressed and was not.
I am delighted my grandson will be going to a different school next school year.

I am very dissatisfied with my experience here. My daughter was enrolled at this school for three years and I became concerned when her reading skills did not seem to be progressing. I asked my mother, who is a retired credentialed teacher with 30+ years of experience teaching in the classroom, recently to do an assessment and my 11 year old tested at Kindergarten level for reading and beginning of Kindergarten level for math. When she began at this school she was testing at nearly 2nd grade level, still behind other kids but not this far behind. There is a huge discrepancy in her learning level to similarly aged public school kids with all the same learning disabilities so we have chosen another school to take her too, one that supports parent participation. Very, very disappointed.

After years and years of struggle, we tried everything from charter schools, homeschool, public special education nothing seemed to help, and he dreaded school, that was until Mavericks. It helped my kiddo who had a hard time with school and self-confidence shine academically and socially. Their teaching style and caring learning environment set him up for success. We will be forever thankful to Maverick Prep Private School!!!

While I do not have any children that attend Maverick Prep, I myself attended this school for 6 years when it was still First Church Christian Center. I recently wanted to look into what happened to FCCC after the school shut down, for nostalgia sake, and I happened to notice that the old FCCC school has become a NEW school for children with dyslexia and other non-traditional learning backgrounds. Many of the kids at FCCC, such as myself, required a personal learning approach that the teachers were able to fulfill. I couldn't be happier to see that the school I attended so long ago is being replaced with a school that also takes a unique approach to learning with neurodivergent kids. Schools that teach at this caliber are necessary and critical for children to express themselves. From what I see, Kelly has done a fine job orchestrating this school., and I would be lucky to have my child attend Maverick.

In response to the assumptions of a review posted, I am not a fake review. I do not have children there, and I do not work at Maverick Academy. I am a private tutor associated with Maverick Academy on an informational sharing basis because I use the same Dyslexia program as this school. Through this relationship, I have reviewed Maverick Academy based on my experience. Concerns about interpersonal communication such as bullying is not what I can review, as I have no background knowledge concerning this problem. Your concerns are compelling, and I hope will be resolved. This is the previous post:
I have had the privilege of meeting Kelly English and understanding the foundation of Maverick Academy. Kelly is seriously determined to give the highest quality of education and learning style to meet the needs of each student. She has incredible insight and years of experience with using her unique concepts. Most of all, I admire how she has formed passion into scientifically researched best practice skill and application.

My grandson was having problems in public school. We suspected that he had dyslexia, but Fresno Unified was hesitant to diagnose him with anything more than a learning disability. A friend’s daughter blossomed significantly after attending Maverick. My grandson attended the summer school program and is now attending school there. They are addressing his dyslexia and speech issues. He is such a happy kid, he loves going to school and I can’t imagine what we’d do without this amazing program! While it may not be for everybody, shame on anybody that would give less than a 5 star review! There is a lot of love and work going into helping our kids thrive!

A year after pulling my son out of Maverick I have learned some horrible things that went on at this school. If your kids currently attend, check in with them and listen to their concerns. I wish I would have.
