My kids love it here. I love it here. My kids are excelling and are disappointed during snow days lol. The deans know each student by name and are involved in everything. I love that we are sorted into houses! I'm guessing the negative reviews are more reflective of the city's political environment versus actual school performance. The behavior policy is very clear and enforced, which I appreciate for my kids' safety and overall experience. The themed days are incredibly fun; Renaissance Day, Astronaut Day, dressing up for their historical speeches, etc. I am also impressed with the programs; Civil Air Patrol (with students learning to fly planes!), college courses, trade certificates, etc. What an amazing school!

My two kids attended Merit from the start of this school year. It was nothing but a hassle. Snotty kids with bullying attitudes and when I talked to the kids parents they weren't any better. I also talked with the school and the Deans. One of the problem kids who bullied and I called on I found out later was one of the Deans sons! Needless to say we pulled our kids out by Christmas break.

I would say that the education aspect was on par or average. I do think the teachers love what they do and deserve praise. But we didn't see anything exceptional to keep the kids enrolled with all the toxic behavior and lack of intervention.

As a side note or disclaimer, We have always homeschooled our kids so I do not know what is common behavior for public schooling, but this left me with a nasty taste in my mouth and would never try to put my kids in a school like this again.

Too bad. We were excited to have the kids try it out, but they never liked it obviously and was begging to not go there anymore.

Unfortunately, I can't say I'm impressed.

Not sure why someone can even review a school their children doesn't attend? My daughter LOVES Merit Academy. They are different - the staff is amazing, parents are involved and they teach kids responsibility, goodness and friendship. After having my daughter bullied at her previous school, Merit is a breath of fresh air. This is an amazing school choice in Teller County!
