Middletown public library is a very nice library l, it has tons of books & a wonderful staff. It’s a beautiful library, that’s not the problem.
The problem is safety. Yes they have a police officer/guard inside, but that does not help keep the public safe out in the parking lot as we are parking and walking into the library.
The staff told me if I felt unsafe and would like the officer to walk me to my vehicle, He would be more than happy to do so.
That is awesome and I will take him up on that if I feel I need to in the future.
I think it would be a grand idea to have a security officer in the parking lot as well sitting in a vehicle.
The parking lot is quite open, and there are several directions that several different people could come at you as you’re walking across the lot and across the front to get into the library.
I was approached by drug addicts that were strung out high as a kite trying to bum money, asking for a ride, asking about turning tricks.
A lot of those people are not homeless and they choose to live the drug addict lifestyle. There are some that are homeless and I pray for the homeless and I hate that they’re homeless but most of those people do not try to go to a shelter or ask for help in the city for them to help them find a job, they don’t want to turn their life around,
When people offer them food they say that they only want money.
It’s very uncomfortable being approached by several men.
I can definitely defend myself. That’s not an issue, but I’m not sure how much I could defend myself against more than two people coming at me from every direction. I stopped at the library the other night didn’t realize they were closed until I walked all the way up to the door, which is far from the parking lot when you’re feeling unsafe, there was a car parked in the parking lot and there were people turning tricks in the car. One got out with a backpack and jumped on a bicycle and took off and then another guy got out of the car. Was walking around the parking lot when I walking back from the front of the door of the library to my vehicle like he was gonna try to Approach me with bad intentions. I had pepper spray in my hand and he saw that and turned around and got his vehicle and just sat there. He was literally pacing back-and-forth waiting for me to come back from the front of the library. He knew it was closed. I did not. I was praying in my head for God to keep me safe on my way in and out of that place and he sure did thank the Lord. It would be a totally different town if the town would enforce police presence to run people off that are up to no good arrest people that are doing things to break the law, etc. that kind of stuff doesn’t go on in Miamisburg, Lebanon, Germantown & Mason, those nicer towns they don’t put up with it.
The police in those towns, will arrest people. They will chase them off the property. They’re not gonna let the people in the town be bullied by drug addicts, thieves, sexual predators etc.
It just makes me really sad. I’ve lived here all my life and our town used to be so nice and it could be again, if those in charge would allow and delegate our officers to clean house and keep us safe.
Every time anything positive or good is done in town evil trashy people ruin it with dark evil, dirty, nasty stuff ruin things with graffiti, break things, leave drug baggies with residue and needles on the sidewalks and streets.
Someone needs to take control of it and stop them from ruining our town. Chase them off. Get them out of our town.
If they’re gonna live in our town, they need to learn to fly right and not break the law and keep to themselves and stay at home if they can’t behave.
If they break the law, they should be arrested.

This is an excellent library. Large space with a good variety of books. The children's section is wonderful for kids of all ages. Plenty of tables scattered throughout for individual and group study. There is even an Ohio history and genealogy room, which is very quiet for research. Plenty of computers. Above all is the happy, helpful staff. I highly recommend MidPointe Library Middletown.

Best library I've ever been to! I was warmly greeted by the staff here to set up my library card membership. The front desk staff member, Chris, was extremely helpful in providing a rundown on the sign up and check out process.

I couldn't be more pleased with my experience here at MidPointe Library Middletown! I am excited to continue to expand my knowledge as I venture into a new career change and go back to school this fall.

Thank you, Chris and MidPointe Library Staff! Easy 5 stars 🌟 šŸ’Æ!

We love our local library. Free summer lunch for the kids, well stocked playroom, coloring stations, kid’s computers preloaded with kids games….plus all the books! - my 3 year olds have been there nearly everyday this week ever since they discovered the library. They are hooked!
