We were referred to Alicia, the owner of Mighty Minds through a friend who was thrilled with their experience . After reaching out, Alicia was quick to respond. Following a quick telephone intake to discuss needs, we had our first session on the books within days. My son, Max, loves Ms. Alicia and after just a couple sessions with her, his confidence and skills have grown by leaps and bounds. She does an excellent job of meeting kids where they are at and finding meaningful ways to join their world. Max is very into airplanes and she finds ways to bring his interest into each session. Max looks forward to each tutoring session and we love that he not only is improving his skills but is developing a deeper love for learning in general.

Alicia, who is the owner of Mighty Minds has been very instrumental in helping my son develop a strong foundation in math skills. She started by identifying areas where my son needed help and then tailored her lessons to address those specific challenges. She used different teaching methods to make the subject more manageable, such as using visual aids to break down problems and many examples to make concepts easier to understand. Her background in Special Education makes her a great tutor, as she has the unique ability to identify where a child is struggling and why.

She also taught my son various problem-solving techniques, which have been very helpful in boosting his confidence when it came to tackling complex math problems. She encouraged my son to practice regularly, providing him with exercises and homework for consistency and would monitor his progress closely.

Alicia was also very patient and supportive, even when my son found certain concepts difficult. She encouraged him to keep trying and persevering. Thanks to her expertise, my son has made significant progress in his approach to math and I am confident that he will continue to do so, under her guidance.

Alicia and my 13-year-old son first met at school where she served as his learning specialist. She became his private tutor beginning June 2023. She brings unique training and experience to their time together that goes beyond what a typical tutor could do. For example, she addresses problematic behavior, avoidance, and negative self-talk in real time...while still teaching the fundamentals of algebra. She's encouraging and is quick to point out improvement and success. I recommend Alicia, especially for children with learning differences.
