In February of 2017, I hand delivered my application for my 2 children to a director on site. This director said my children were all set and would have spots secured for care beginning in August 2017. Do the math, I was 6 months ahead of the ball game to ensure my children would be taken care of. Nervous of the time gap, I called in April to confirm everything was all set and was told a 2nd time that the kids had spots starting in August and were all set. I enjoyed my summer knowing the kids had a place secured for daycare. July came and I called again to inquire about orientation. I was told my kids in fact DO NOT have a spot and on top of it that their application was not on file. Where did these applications that I hand delivered with private information on them go? They said they were going to "call applicants at the end of July" to discuss space. For a family expecting to start in August, a call in July is completely unfair. As a teacher, this would have left me 2 weeks to find 2 open spots for daycare which is impossible since places book and have waiting lists 3-6 months before the start of each school year. Infuriating.
On top of it all, the people I kept getting transferred to were unapologetic, defensive, and completely inconsiderate to the fact that 2 children have nowhere to go with only 2 weeks notice. I kept being told so and so "will call you back" multiple times, with no call.
I'm left wondering, If this is how they treated us, Lord knows how they treat the kids and other situations. It just felt like a deceitful hot mess and I will gladly scramble like a frantic chicken to make other arrangements so my kids can be somewhere with more respect, compassion, organization, and who follow through for 2 hard working parents who did everything right in the process from day 1 and didn't deserve any of this.
