From his father Kevin Bennett:
My son, Cameron Ellis Bennett, was found dead in his barracks on 8/26/23 in Groton, Connecticut. He was 21 years old and awaiting orders. The Navy told me it was a suicide, however, the medical examiner’s report revealed a completely different story. The NCIS promised to investigate and report the findings. At this point, I have received no information and I’ve called the NCIS lead investigator multiple times, left messages, with no response. I just can’t seem to let go. Mike Johnson sent representatives to his funeral.

Pretty decent place all things considered. You have everything you need nearby: the Galley, the NEX, Gym, pool, bowling alley, etc.

Been on this base numerous times when me and my family lived in Groton for 8 years. The world’s largest submarine base. It has a nice commissary, NEX(2levels), gym, movie theater, galley, bowling alley, gas station, MWR, swimming pool, winter time an ice skating is put up across the street by the golf course, golf course, baseball field, soccer field, a nice submarine museum across the street from main gate,and manmade lake.

So much to do and is offered on this base. The amusement park comes to this base every year for the military and civilians. Always a good time to be had.

Excellent Connecticut historical location! Conveniently situated near Rt 95 and New London and across from Coast Guard Academy.
SSN 571 Nautilus is open for tour. All access is FREE for the entire family.
No access to the Naval base from sunmerine museum.
