This review is 100% for optometry. Every other department is just fine.

Optometry was a pain to deal with. I was told in the summer they aren't doing eye exams or renewing glasses anymore. I then go out in town to get these done (as instructed by the front desk and paid for out of pocket). Now, 6 months later, when checking out they need an up to date prescription. I made 7 trips to optometry before getting my sheet signed, received extremely rude and sassy attitude from some front desk HM, and was told to make an appointment (a month out) to get my checkout sheet signed. Unbelievably trashy, nightmarish, and non-existant service. The HMs here are more worried about uniform instructions and their own convenience than providing any real service to personnel who double the hours they do.

I hope someone important will read this and correct the arrogant, indifferent, and sassy attitude at the front desk of optometry.

What are the taxpayers buying here? For service members to get no service and have their time wasted?

When I was on shore duty, I was having pains in my wrists and saw PA Mark Clarke. He told me that I wasn't exercising enough and put me on naproxen. A month later, it hurt just to get out of bed so I went back and saw a doctor who had blood work done which revealed that I had Lyme disease.

Alright I just wanna preface this by saying I am 19, and NOT a Karen by any means, but I feel I need to express my displeasure with this place. These are, and I am not kidding when I say, the LEAST helpful HM’s that I have ever come across. And they’re also rude as hell. I’m pretty sure that if you’re a student here, they automatically catch an attitude. The only helpful and nice people in this clinic are the civilians. I have been to sick call multiple times just for these HM’s to basically tell me to F off. There is like zero sense of urgency to take care of all of the sailors that come to get help. Not to mention, when checking out, I was sent to 4 different places throughout the building, all contradicting where the previous person told me to go. This place is a JOKE, and makes military healthcare look like more of a joke than it already is.

Absolutely ridiculous. Turned away with attitude for not being in uniform, inquired where I could file a complaint, and they instead called the desk I was turned away from. Was then told to just go buy medicine from the NEX.

Doctor appointments are usually within 10-15 minutes of schedule. Pharmacy waits can be long (if not just refills), but they DO have to ensure everything is correct and documented. I'm told Wednesday is "training day", so try other days for pharmacy.

I don't enjoy going to doctors appointments (who does?), but when I go here, the care is great and the staff is friendly! I see Dr. Woods, he's a wonderful doctor. He's always kind, professional, and truly shows that he cares about his patients.
