Our Companions Animal Rescue is so amazing. Several years ago I wanted to donate time to an animal rescue and I found them and was welcomed right from the first orientation. I met with Deanna and realized I wanted to volunteer through training classes. The staff and other volunteers are such a gracious group of people. The thought and care they put into the things they do for pets and their pet parents is incredible. Over the last few years my availability has changed but I always feel welcome to participate, however that may look. Now I know from both sides because after volunteering I adopted a pup myself. She is the sweetest pup but a bit shy/fearful. I took classes with some amazing trainers and met with Peyton who is so patient, knowledgeable and non judgmental. She taught me some great skills and now when I am out with my pup and she is excited to be at new places and having fun I know it is from the things I have learned thru Our Companions. I know they will always be a great resource for me and I am fortunate to have found such a great place to volunteer.

These shelters don't care about finding good homes, all they care about is indoor pet owners who lock the animals up in apartments. They'd rather an animal be depressed and distressed in a cage than go be free and play around outdoors.
Told them we were looking for a cat. We were open to much any cat, young or old, as long as it was pretty friendly. We own a house with a large yard. They didn't like the fact we wanted to let it outside, as most every cat desires. Told us they'd call us if they found us a good fit. Never called back.

This place is absolutely beautiful! They have small houses for dogs and cats and are generally very caring about their animals. I volunteered here a while back with my mom, and all the cats there were very sweet and are getting the best care they can!

Unlike the other people here offering their glowing reviews , my friends experience was far from good. The dog he adopted was aggressive and the organization failed to tell him this. They used a walkie talkie system out in the woods to warn each other not to come too close to the dog he was adopting. Had he seen that aggression at the get go the adoption would not have taken place. The dog pulled him to the ground twice, he face planted on the pavement drawing blood. The first time was in his neighborhood in front of neighbors who didn’t come to his rescue for fear of being attacked by the dog. It is our opinion this dog is untrainable and therefore the kindest thing to do would be to have it euthanized. Make sure you get ALL history on animals being adopted from this establishment.

A fabulous non-profit. A wonderful place for injured animals. There are separate homes where the different animals live on beautiful acerage. They offer training and information on all aspects of helping animals and finds them forever homes. I can't say enough about this fantastic organization.

Great people! Love our rescue from them! Have been in contact with them for 3 months since we got him and they have always been making sure it has been a good fit and giving us advice and help! Training classes are great as well. So many helpful instructors!
