First off HUGE shoutout to Jaspar and Ashley! They work at this YMCA and were so welcoming right when I walked into the gym. I came with a lot of questions about the gym and they were extremely patient and understanding. They told me about all the amenities and the open basketball times, so I can do drills.

The gym itself is a bit older but has all the basics you need to get a good workout. There were no “gym snobs” and people were respectful on the equipment not taking forever, or on their phones. The basketball court is big and they have rotating group classes you can take to change up your workout routines! The locker rooms are clean and have modern code lock systems, so you don’t need to bring your own lock AND they have towel service!! Most gyms took away clean towels, so that’s a huge bonus. Lastly the pool and jacuzzi is cleaned every week, which makes you want to use them.

I’ve tried most of the gyms in the peninsula and the San Mateo YMCA is my favorite! I ended up joining as a member with Jaspar’s help and couldn’t be more happier!

The staff is very friendly, always ready to help, especially a girl named Fátima, very educated. Great place for kids to practice varied sports, great space and easy parking. If you want to do some sport do not have to be a partner, just pay a slightly higher rate of value and okay, you have the right to participate. Location and clean blocks, we always see people cleaning the rooms. Good for family sports.

There is a problem with opening the swimming pool on time on Saturdays. Happened 3 times this month already, a combination of "swimming guard is late" and "reception desk employee is late". Management doesn't answer emails with complaints, it looks like this is how it works in this YMCA. A fun fact is at 8:00am aqua aerobic starts and takes half of lanes, so this ends up with lap swim lanes being heavily crowded.

I joined the Y solely for BodyPump and the floor. Man, you're killing me with your instructors! I can't even hear the music, and for god sake, stop with the counting!
As for the facility itself, this place screams we are an office building, and will allow some space for those who would like to workout. Seriously, workout machines are lined up in the hallways, but check out the faciity for yourself. The offices are huge, equipped with kitchenettes, long meeting tables, etc. Leaving very little space for what the place is designed for: members. I had to throw in the towel.

The Y is Okay. The pool is large and well maintained, parking is ample and sufficient, staff is friendly and professional. Workout and locker room areas could use further maintenance.

They have very unfriendly staff in the afternoons.
My daughter goes swimming, a month ago they were giving towels now they no longer give towels for swim kids only for members.

The people are very courteous and diverse! I enjoy going there with my husband. The pool and jacuzzi have "lifts" for disabled people ... definitely disabled, family oriented, from seniors to babies, all inclusive. It's awesome. Thank you to all the staff.

Did a chair yoga class with Joan. She is a very good instructor. First time back since the Covid pandemic started. Place is clean and was busy as always. They have many classes going on and very few people wear mask anymore.
