I can tell you my experience, from both as a former resident of safely home and as someone who has their bachelor's in special education and psychology. First George Purgert is the biggest phoney to walk this earth.

The institution has an extremely poor education system. They have 2 classes both taught by people who are clearly unqualified and inexperienced, I doubt even have their degree in education. They will give your children work for class but problems in and out of the classroom. They will not teach them how to approach and learn new concepts the teachers don't even have lesson plans. If your child has a physical disability as well mental issues I can tell you will regret sending them here if you do.

On top of that just like their skill set things show very little value. If the therapists have trouble working with a child they may discard their case, speak with them less etc. There are multiple ways to address situations like this. Clearly they either have not heard of and/or refuse to apply the necessary effort for Lev Vygotsky's scaffolding method. Which is a key element in these situations.

The staff members don't have much experience approaching sensitive situations, nor understand how every person and their needs are different. Some staff members are nice. This institution doesn't know what the word equity is either. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I lived here for 8 months in the early 2000's. Don't send your children here unless you want them to be re-traumatized over and over again. A boy got his arm broken in a restraint the very first day I was there. Your kids will probably end up worse off than they were before they went here. I can't believe this place hasn't been closed down, and I can't believe George Purgert still has a social work license. I guess he's good at hiding what goes on there.

They have patients smearing feces on the toilets and the incompetent staff does nothing but plead for them to stop. Staff also is completely incompetent when it comes to safety protocols and care for suicidal patients, they give them handheld pencil sharpeners with removable blades that they can and have used to hurt themselves. This place needs shut down
