My friend and I had a great lesson with Josh -- highly recommend SF Wing Foil Academy!

First we started out on land, practicing how to control the wing. It honestly didn't feel that important at first, but later on, we realized how crucial this was.

Next, we practiced standing up on board and foiling behind his boat -- much harder than it looks, but Josh was really helpful and encouraging. We also used a 180 L board for more stability.

For the last part of the lesson, because we had scheduled our lesson on a day without wind, Josh was kind enough to let us finish the final part of the lesson on a different day when conditions were better.

We put together everything we had learned and attempted to wing foil on our own -- much harder than it looks, but a lot of fun! Definitely need a few sessions to get it right, regardless of the instructor.

My recommend: Take individual lessons to get the most out of your time. You'll probably need a few lessons to get really comfortable with wing foiling. It's much harder than it looks, but Josh is a great instructor. I'm looking forward to taking some more lessons with him in the spring!

Excellent wing foil lesson with Josh! He’s a very experienced instructor and the radio helmets provide immediate feedback. Paradise Cay is the perfect place to learn with flat water, strong winds, and Josh’s boat support. Highly recommended!

I had my first lesson with Josh recently (second one is tonight), foiling behind his boat. By the end of the first lesson I was successfully riding, albeit not super steadily, and felt pretty good about it. Josh is a clear, mellow teacher who neither pushes too hard nor coddles, which is exactly what I want.

Josh is a great wingfoil instructor - clear, experienced teaching and great gear for learning. He has a boat and can take you whenever the best conditions are that day for your level. You can also tow behind his boat to get extra practice on the foil - my personal favorite!

Had an amazing set of lessons with Josh. Went specifically to get foil experience behind a boat and learn foil control to advance my wingfoiling skills. Awesome instructions. Joshua teaches you that you need to push more and fail more to learn more. You inevitably get better. He also repairs wings. He might be a better alternative to sail makers. They are busy with larger sailboat sail and have long turnaround time.
