This was the first time attending the church and was inspired by the unique experience of the Passover / Seder teaching which included Jewish traditions of food, wine (grape juice), and integrated teachings of Jesus and the comparison of communion. I found the fact that the Pastor and a few members were born Jewish, then became Christians very interesting. After spending much of my adult life in LA, I have many Jewish friends and associates but I hadn’t attended any of their religious or home life experiences. So I enjoyed hearing about the pastor’s bar mitzvah, the prayer robe, and understanding how his early teachings make up the person that he is today. The salt water that represent the tears, the wine / blood that represent all the trials they went through. Grateful for the integrated religious experience and meeting new people.

I'd like to share with you what really stands out about this church. Forgive the pun, but this place has been a "Godsend" for me following the unexpected death of my wife at age 51. I have been to many other churches in town. And they were nice, the message was positive and the people were nice (well, at most of them). But when I first attended Shepherd of the Hills I truly felt I had "come home". The people are "my kinda people". Loving, joyful, comforting and there for spiritual growth. It is a welcoming and enriching environment for all. I have found this incredible sense of belonging within this church family. Part of my journey back to Christ, and my personal healing from the loss of my spouse, is based upon my joining the church's "Good Grief Group" on Thursday Nights at 6:00pm. This is far from your run of the mill "Grief Group". It is a special collection of beautiful souls who share their understanding, caring and compassion freely. This group has healed me. I love this group! If you are seeking a bible-based, loving, joyful and welcoming church. Stop by Shepherd of the Hills in Tehachapi at 10:30am on any Sunday. You'll be so glad you did. I am.

When I first moved to Tehachapi I visited many churches. When I found Shephard Of The Hills (SOTH), I knew I found my church home ? I like that it is a place that made me feel welcomed the first time I went. It is a family atmosphere and everyone knows who you are. Pastor Jeff Kaplan is the Best!!! He takes the time each week to personally talk to each one there, especially first time visitors.
Pastor Jeff is a master at delivering the message each Sunday. I have learned so much about the Bible and I look forward to every Sunday to hear what Pastor Jeff will be teaching us. I am so blessed to have found SOTH.

My husband & I moved to Tehachapi 4yrs ago from a Sta. Clarita. We were attending a mega church then. We checked all the Christian churches in the neighborhood until we came to Shepherd of the Hills church. After one service that Sun, the Holy Spirit led us to be a part of this church. We prayed for a church where we can be of service to the Lord . We heard Pastor Jeff preached & right downtown to the scriptures. We love the warm fellowship of believers & an active women’s group. Before settling at SOTH, I visited other churches. When meet and greet came, no one extended a welcome. ?‍♀️ They did here at SOTH! One specific criteria I was looking for in a church was the biblical foundation in the Word. Is it frilly, is it what I want to hear, or need to hear? Did I want to learn and be involved or continue to be a pew warmer? If you have a desire to learn more and grow, if you want to feel welcome, if you have a God given gift to share, I hope you will consider joining us. Having rather recently transferred from another local church we attended for almost 50 years, we learned a sorry lesson of how important the demonstration of a solid Christian walk of a new pastor is in addition to their solid biblical "book" or scriptural knowledge. SOTH Church has both aspects of what it means for the pastor to be strong in both aspects, i.e., "practice what you preach"!! Jeff and his elder staff REALLY practice both a solid bible-based knowledge and how one should treat other Christians in the daily demonstration of what it means to emulate Christ's attitude of love and understanding. Real Christian faith on display at every event. SOTH excels at that in the Senior Pastor and members.

I went for the Good Grief group after losing my 23 year old son, Joey.
I've been attending services ever since.
The PHD Pastor Jeff is a passionate man of God and the congregation is Very loving and kind.
