The tuition and guidance received from Lynnette was invaluable to achieving this. I would highly recommend Shine Tutors for 11+ teaching and preparation. My son attended classes for a couple of years in the run up to his 11+ exams and this gave him a fantastic foundation for success not just for the 11+ but beyond.

Lynnette delivers a carefully tailored programme that builds knowledge, skills and confidence across the core elements of the national curriculum and 11+ exams, including for both English and Maths. She also provides lessons in verbal and non-verbal reasoning for those that require this.

Shine Tutors are really committed to helping children reach their full potential and there are frequent mini assessments with Lynnette also providing regular feedback, including constructive areas for improvement. Commitment to the programme by children, and support by parents is important particularly as the homework/workload increases at the end of Year 5/beginning of Year 6 and there are mock exams. This is all manageable and can be planned around existing clubs/after school commitments. By the time the children sit exams they are confident in the content areas but also in understanding exam techniques. Lynnette is also always very responsive to queries or requests for support.

My son was offered a place at Wilson's Grammar school, City of Freeman's, King's College school and at Reigate Grammar school. This was all made possible by the teaching and support he received from Shine Tutors and we are incredibly grateful for this.

There's no beating about the bush - Lynnette runs a tight, regimented ship but her syllabus is generally well structured and paced over the 2 years of prep. The children are in small groups and mark their own homework during lessons. This is quite an efficient way for them to both learn from their mistakes and to also share ideas within the group eg. from hearing creative writing pieces written by peers.

Individual feedback is provided to each parent about their child at the end of each lesson and whenever I felt the need to call her about any specific concerns, Lynnette was always receptive and took action.

For example, despite our son being capable, he struggled emotionally with the general pressures of the workload; as some children can. Lynnette really came through by showing genuine care and having faith in him. She came up with solutions to provide additional support where he needed it and towards the end allowed for flexible learning to accommodate his needs.

This paid off and resulted in a happier child who was more engaged, grew in confidence and who successfully achieved the end goal of a first round offer from Tiffin . Thanks for bearing with us Lynnette - your support, patience and faith were very much appreciated.
