There good and bad everywhere you go. For the most part all the clinical instructors have been great and the teachers as well. They have high expectations because we are putting people's lives in our hands. Just started last term and I am grateful and happy that I chose to go to school to be a nurse.

Please be extremely cautious about going with this school. They have very inexperienced instructors. They have zero accountability and they will blame the students for the shortcomings that the school has manifesting due to their lack of care and ability to teach what each field requires for success. I urge you to read their many reviews and do your due diligence before considering this place.

If you're looking to become a dental assistant, I highly recommend the program at SJVC Bakersfield. All of the instructors are very passionate about what they do, and truly care about every single one of their students. This program is very hands on, and if you are willing to put in the work and time that it takes to complete the program, it will thoroughly prepare you for a career in the dental field.

I’m very grateful for SJVC. I’m 37 years old, and I have been working dead end job after dead end job since I was 16. I grew up poor in the hood and joined a gang very early in life. I always held the belief that America was a racist country, and that white people would never allow a black man like me to prosper no matter what I did. This belief would have been valid in the 1980s and some of the 1990s but this belief and mind state is absolutely false in today’s world. This type of mind state was passed down by the elders in the black community who genuinely suffered prejudice and racism in the past. I can honestly say as an ex-gang member that this mind state is shameful and held me back in life for almost 20 years. When I decided to go back to school I was very worried and intimidated, but the staff at SJVC welcomed me with open arms and constantly encouraged me. I completed the 7 month maintenance program and got a maintenance job 2 weeks later. I now work as a certified maintenance technician making really good money. I decided to go back to SJVC for my associate degree, which I’ll have in 2 more months and I plan to peruse my bachelors. SJVC helped me change my life and financial situation in just 7 months. I would like thank the entire staff at SJVC in Bakersfield California, especially Mr. Wankum. Many of things I learned from Mr. Wankum I use everyday at work. I highly recommend SJVC!!!!!

It’s an absolute shame that your call out “sales” reps disguised as recruiters kept interrupting me and not letting me speak at all. When I said I was no longer interested and would go somewhere else office management basically said “there is no one else”. I hope your staff wasn’t educated by SJVC because it’s a horrible rep. I felt I was the one with the most conflict resolution on the call and I just have insurance claim handling experience. Please put Bakersfield phone staff on a better coaching plan. They aren’t meeting expectations or serving their community this way. Thank you! 🙏 every voice matters not just the people who make call outs.
