I attended the medical assistance program. The teachers were very welcoming, as well as knowledgeable. I feel like there was a lot of support given inside the classroom and they really care about what they do and how they are setting you up for success. However, the career advisor that I was given was very unprofessional I could never get a hold of her and made my extern absolute hell. I am still struggling to find a job after my extern finished.

Update

When I first started SJVC, I was worried I would fail and it would be a big mistake. The stress and anxiety I was feeling had me feeling like I was a failure before even starting!! However, the experiences I've had with the instructors and the coursework were phenomenal, fantastic, educational, and supportive. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Great, fantastic, amazing, online instructors.

I was disappointed with my externship and job placements. The career advisors made me feel like I was ungrateful for the opportunities due to my situation in life. I felt dismissed. However, less than 24 hours after posting, I get a phone call apologizing about my negative experiences and questions about how they can help. I am shocked they are prioritizing a student who has already finished the courses and has a job placement because they are genuinely concerned. Thank you.

Ending note. Their career advisers are nice when they're steering you in the direction they want you to go, and dare I say it, they do have fantastic interview tips, and they can build your confidence to get you ready for your interviews, which is an amazing skill they utilize well. I would just like them to be more mindful of people's circumstances.

Joining SJVC for the electrical program has been one of the best decisions I've made. The program covers everything needed to succeed in the field, and the instructors are exceptional. They provide valuable support and ensure that every concept is thoroughly understood. The quality of education and guidance is truly outstanding.

I am a SJVC graduate, this school was really easy as long as you can make time for it and pay attention. The courses were really fun and stressful at times and it may seem like a while but the time does fly by. If you are worried about going because you don’t know if you’re going to get a job don’t worry, keep your grades up and attendance and they will take care of that for you. Jannette (my career advisor) got me my first within my career field the day before I graduated. Once I started, I started with full confidence because I knew what I was supposed to do all ready plus more. SJVC really does set you up for success so it’s a really great choice as long as you apply yourself and have time for it.

I went here for the Medical Assistant program. I like the program. The teachers are amazing. They treat every student the same and give every student the help and attention they need. The facility is a little small but nice. Their career advisors also provide assistance with job applications and job searching.

School is and sign up is easy, funding is easier BUT$16K for medical billing and coding and I can't get a job for anything but receptionist - you don't have to spend that kind of money to be qualified for receptionist! All billing or coding jobs require certification and 1-3yrs of experience, so unless you already have office experience - save your money

I'm in the midst of the program and just love it!! The teachers and staff are fantastic and it feels like they have become my extended family. They care and want you to succeed. They offer many resources to help if you hit a road block. It's a very professional environment and they continue to train you on maintaining professionalism. I have learned so much in the 3 months I've been attending thus far and look forward to all the things I'll continue to learn. I'm thankful for SJVC, with their help my goals are becoming a reality.

I would not recommend this school for the electrical program. When I first signed up I was told by the advisors they would help me find a job, that was a lie. I’ve Been applying everywhere and never heard back from them except them hounding me to know if I found a job. I was told this program was up to date, that was a lie, instead I was handed a 2020 NEC and the online books they gave “which only last a year, ever though we are paying 15k plus” they were also outdated with multiple typos. The equipment we were given was worn to hell, we are paying 15k and they can’t even supply us with adequate materials? Most of the teachers were informative except Mr.Martin, he just gives the answers to every test, quiz and homework assignment so his classroom grade doesn’t fall below a certain average. 0/5 if I could.
