Often see them at Compton Airport. Last year I was trying to raise a concern with their management about unsafe practices. Talked to dispatch and was promised to receive a call back from their chief pilot. Nobody called me back. Their aircraft still often land past midpoint of our runway.
And now here comes an accident with their aircraft. Student pilot solo bounced and destroyed that little plane. Im glad everyone is ok. Poor CFI and solo student, they destroyed their careers probably because of the flight school pushing them.

I am a student here! I love sling and I am so glad I made the decision to come here after researching several other schools! I commute to this school about 45 minutes each way and I drive past several other airports and flight schools to come here! The planes here are fantastic, the airport is amazing, and the school creates a very supportive and fun environment to learn and grow! It is also very easy to make new friends with fellow students! Can't wait for them to open more locations so I do not have to commute as far, but I am glad I came here and I think you will be too! Don't believe the trolls! If you are moving here from out of the la area, please note that traffic in the south bay sucks, so I recommend you stay in student housing or find a place to stay within 5 miles of zamperini field.

In a single word....Unprofessional. I came 15 mins early of my 11am FIRST flight time, went thru their lobby no one was around so I walked on the property to find someone who told me that my instructor is here someplace and to wait for him. I did and at 10:59 a minute before my flight he cancels it for weather. This is the southbay its always hazy and cloudy, all you had to do was look out the window and tell me it was cancelled but to wait 1 min before my flight!? Super unprofessional. How about a little warning? I drove 45 mins out to get here on time. Mind you this is all happening via text, the instructor never meets with me face to face to tell me it was cancelled, this clown is hiding somewhere texting me his excuses. He then tries to sell me who's fault it is, dispatch should have called you blah blah blah especially on your first flight. SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL. Then around 11:35am I get the flight cancellation email, which is hilarious. 35 mins after I should have been in the air. There was a open house same day too to get new flyers which is ironic because you'd think the'd want to do a good job with at least a new student. Flight lessons aren't cheap and I was super enthused to start to earn my Sport or my PPL license. Crap Pilot academy definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm taking my business else where. This isn't how you run a business at all. Flight lessons aren't cheap, my time and money should be valued and minimum respected.

Our son is there currently, he has had a great experience. We are very pleased that we choose Sling. The instructors and community have been very helpful. He just passed his Commercial and working in his CFI. Highly recommend Sling Pilot Academy

Took a tour with Matthew and a discovery flight with Francis. Had an outstanding experience and enrolled right away. Now I’m fully funded and enrolled. Can’t wait to start Sling Pilot training!✈️

A few weeks ego I requested information about their flight training. I took the time to speak to Mathew the enrollment specialist who told me he was going to send me the information and pricing . A few weeks went by and I did not get anything. I called again and spoke to him again and nothing. This is very unprofessional of this school when they do not get back to people requesting information. If they’re like this for potential clients I would not trust them for their maintenance on their planes and unprofessional flight instructors and staff. And obviously the owners do not care as well and they let the staff do whatever they want.

Unfortunately, I never got to fly with Sling. Back in August, I booked the first two weeks of October for my commercial multi add-on and 50 hours of time building at the Torrance airport. I would be traveling from the east coast to do so. I was told initially to sign up online, and I would be contacted shortly thereafter with specific schedule times and study materials for the Tecnam. After not hearing back in three weeks, and reluctant to finalize plans without confirmation from Sling, I reached out to them and was assured that my spot was still secure and to go ahead and make my travel arrangements. I scheduled two weeks of vacation from work, canceling or rescheduling many appointments in the process. I arranged and paid for air travel, accommodations, local transportation, and boarding for my dog. I made several difficult financial decisions in order to pool my respurces to pay for all of this. A student of mine even rescheduled their checkride because they wanted me to be there for them. I was pretty excited to finally get the multi rating done. But more weeks passed and I still heard nothing from Sling. Yesterday, three days prior to leaving for my trip, I still hadn't gotten any communication from them so I called. After a long hold, I was informed that one of their planes has already been down indefinitely with a part on backorder. The other is scheduled to be down for maintenance for the entirety of the time I was scheduled to be there. No planes. They can't get me in until the end of the month. Not even so much as a "sorry". I'm a professional pilot. I understand maintenance obstacles and that nobody has control over equipment failing. What I don't understand is the utter lack of communication over maintenance conflicts that sound like they were pretty easy to see coming, and the total absence of anything approaching an apology for this lapse. I make very little money as a CFI and this whole debacle has cost me greatly with nothing to show for it. I gave 2 stars because everyone I spoke to on the phone was nice. I do not recommend Sling Academy and will not for the rest of my career. Good luck.
