I have been so impressed with Sylvan Learning and the progress my daughter has made in just a few weeks. Ava absolutely loves going there, and I’ve noticed significant improvement in her reading fluency during the first 3 weeks of tutoring. The staff is friendly, and the environment is welcoming, making it easy for Ava to feel comfortable and excited about learning.

After an assessment, Ava was placed in a specialized program tailored to her skills, which I think has been key to her improvement. It’s clear that the program is designed to meet her specific needs, and I’m already seeing the results.

My daughter has been going to Sylvan twice a week for a year now. In that time I have seen her confidence grow and she is feeling more successful in what she can do at school. I appreciate the staff in making her feel comfortable. She enjoys all the teachers she works with and is highly motivated by earning points. I love that I can text and communicate with people to get answers to questions. They always get right back to me when I reach out with a question or concern. Any time we are unable to make our day/time they work with me to find another day to make it up. I especially appreciate Jonadel for always being so helpful.

Bill was wonderful in helping set up what would be the best help for my son. Nic, who worked with my son was very patient and took what were my sons interest and made them a part of his tutoring for the writing assignments. We highly recommend Sylvan at Castro Valley!

I purchased 50 hours at 70 dollars an hour. I used a CC so it came to 3450 (they charge a percentage of the total if you use a cc). I appreciated the explanation meeting to find out costs and options what they plan. We picked the English tract with an emphasis on essays. They have so many metrics they want the child to reach but I also have my child bring in their hw so they can get some assistance with that (which is why we are here). We've only had 1 day of lessons (they have to be 2 hours per lesson) and my 13 year old enjoys it. They have a token system and that's how they motivate the kids to work. Seems like it works so far. I'll come back and update once I get 20 hours in. My overall goal is for my child to feel more confident writing essays.

Our experience has exceeded all of my expectations. My daughter has specific learning needs and Sylvan takes the time to understand and meet her where she’s at. This isn’t worksheets and supervision, it’s hands on instruction and personalized lesson selection. Every teacher my daughter has had so far; Deven, LuAnn and Kyle, have been amazing. She loves the motivation station where she gets to redeem earned tokens for prizes. She leaves with the biggest smile on her face and asks me when she goes back! Academically, after only a few sessions I am already seeing an improvement in her math! Liset took her time to explain my daughter’s assessment results and answered all of my questions. She gave experienced advice that I needed. Madison and Jonadel make my daughter feel welcomed and comfortable, from the first day assessment to now. Thank you, Sylvan 🙂
