We chose Sylvan Learning to further develop our child's writing and study skills, and it was a great decision. He now pays greater attention to detail in his writing and proofreads his work which are two areas young writers struggle to develop. Ms. Emily has been a great tutor and our child looks forward to each tutoring session.

Sylvan Learning Center has been a game-changer for my son! He is learning so much more about the foundations of math than he ever was in school. The difference is incredible—he went from being frustrated and miserable about his performance to being confident and excited to learn. He even asked to add an extra day of tutoring, so now he’s going three times a week by his own request!

There’s no better feeling than seeing your child not only succeed academically but also believe in their abilities. The Sylvan team has made such a positive impact, and I can see this being a long-term solution for us. Highly recommend!

My son has been working with Sylvan Learning for 4-5 months and we couldn’t be more pleased with the progress he’s made. Sylvan learning is not only patient and understanding but also incredibly knowledgeable in math and reading They tailor lessons to suit my son’s learning style, making even challenging topics easy to understand. It’s clear that Sylvan Learning is passionate about teaching and genuinely cares about their students’ success. We’ve seen a significant improvement in both his confidence and grades. I would highly recommend Sylvan Learning to anyone looking for an exceptional tutor!

My kids utilized Sullivan Learning Center from late September to January 2025. My oldest is autistic with an educational curve and my youngest doesn’t have an educational curve. I was recommended SLC from an attendee and they also had good reviews. Yes SLC is expensive but I looked at the fees as an investment into my children’s future. My two girls went twice a week for an hour and sat at a table together. I did provide an IEP for my oldest so they’d be aware of her learning curve as she gets one on one attention with OCPS but was not provided that at SLC. She actually received tutoring at the same table with her sister. In hindsight, that seems great because they are siblings, but for my ASD childs learning style, that wasn’t best. My first complaint was homework help. I’d send in her homework and they’d probably help with 1-2 problems out of 10-15 problems she’d have. I complained about it and was told they spend 10-15 minutes per child on homework and proceed with the lesson plan for the day. Their work they brought back didn’t match but I figured, rather than keep complaining, accept what they did good on and move along. I have had my mother retrieve the girls from tutoring a few times and she observed the kids on an iPad. When she questioned it, she was told that SLC has their own programs they utilize for the kids (like an app). I didn’t really like that because they can use an iPad at home with free educational apps, I assume that in that type of facility, everything will done on paper and via verbal contact like how we did before iPads even existed. I feel that because they use their own programming, there isn’t a fool proof way to determine if a child is actually excelling in general. So for example, a kid can excel in their unique programming and then go to school and fail OCPS programs. Lastly, all the tutors may or may not be teachers. They could just be regular ppl who have a job at a tutoring center. Meaning, they may not be educated on how to teach a child with a special need. With that being said, once I got my children’s report card in January, both my babies grades declined significantly. Yes I had them do hooked on phonics daily, yes they partook in tutoring at school, and they were read to daily. These are the steps I took before sylvan and wanted the kids to have better grades and comprehension skills (hence why I started SLC). But since they declined, along with a few personal hurtles, I had to remove them. Kevin was super cool, understanding, and patient with my girls. Just know that SLC isn’t for everyone, please do all your research and weigh all pros and cons before making such a huge investment you can’t get back.

My son is in third grade and has improved a great deal in reading since going to Sylvan Learning Ocoee. Sylvan increases his confidence and is more enthusiastic about learning thanks to the Sylvan teachers. He builds friendships and they have a pretty sweet reward system to keep kids excited about coming back. I can’t express my gratitude for all this center does for my son and they are fully vested in all their students successes.
