When Huntington unexpectedly (and with no communication) closed, Sylvan was able to get my daughter assessed & scheduled quickly for the new school year.

My daughter loves her tutors and tutoring session's. The small classroom setting allows the teacher time to help each child individually. Each lesson caters to each child, that insures that each child learns at their own pace!

We had a great experience with Sylvan and recommend them highly. All of the teachers and staff are excellent.

But a few tips for parents that I think might help.

1) Yes, it's an investment. But your kids are both it. Sylvan can work with you on how many days a week/month though depending on what you are looking for in terms of tutoring. Unfortunately, it's not free.

2) Ohio sometimes offers an ACE scholarship to help with the costs once each school year. If you haven't heard about it Google it and apply if you can. You might save some money that way.

3) You have to be willing to let go of the reins and let them do their jobs. I saw it all the time when dropping my child off - parents who were demanding and not willing to just let the teachers teach.

4) Yes, they will recommend more tutoring then you might expect at first but it's for a valid reason. It's not just to make money. My child needed math tutoring. I was thinking at first one hour one or two times a week and she'd be good to go. But no, it takes far more time than I expected for the knowledge to be retained. So just keep that in mind.

Sylvan is honestly just there to help and want what's best for your child, just like you do. So, just trust the process but don't be afraid to ask questions. Their staff is great! Good luck!

My son has had a great experience at Sylvan. His reading skills and confidence have greatly improved. The staff are caring and considerate to accommodate the students' needs. When my son's anxiety was interfering with his tutoring sessions, they worked with us to find a solution.

My daughter had tutoring at the Holland location. They were wonderful! She truly enjoyed going and honestly her sisters were jealous that she got to have so much fun! Her grades improved significantly. After just a few months in the program she went from being below average in reading and math to almost matching her twin sisters test scores who is in excelled classes! Her teacher at school selected her to receive the Claire’s Day award for most improved reader which is huge! Some of her tutors from Sylvan came to see her accept this award. They truly care for the children they help and it shows in so many ways! I would 100% recommend Sylvan learning center. I couldn’t be happier with our experience there.

Sylvan has helped our son tremendously! We are constantly impressed with the progress he makes each week.
