Had a great adventure AT skiing for my first time in the Intro Backcountry course. Sarah was friendly and clear in organizing logistics, Steve greeted and shook my hand when I arrived, and our instructor Tyler was very knowledgeable, clear communication, patient, and gave tons of relevant instruction and tips throughout the day. The terrain was challenging but not impossible for me and I learned a ton. Highly recommend this school.

I took an Intro to Mountaineering course with Steve and had a great time! Communication from Sarah before our course was clear and helpful. During the course, Steve gave clear instructions and continuously asked if we had any questions. He also took into account our preferences for what we wanted to learn and which skills we wanted to focus on the most. There was never any pressure to do something we were uncomfortable with, and Steve regularly asked us how we felt about what we were doing. I was very pleased with my experience and would definitely recommend the Intro to Mountaineering course with TMS to others!

Did a guided backcountry ski tour at Silver Peak last weekend. Steve was fantastic and so knowledgeable about the sport itself and all the risks around avalanche. We were a group of 5 people who signed up individually and he made sure everyone felt included and dealt well with the different speeds and abilities within the group. The landscapes were simply breathtaking! Grateful for the great service provided out in the mountains as well as the ease to book and get relevant information from Sarah. Thank you Steve and Sarah for this memorable day! I will be back 🙂

Incompetent when it comes to implementing what they teach when faced with a real world situation. I fractured my ankle on a moderate slope with variable terrain during a recent AIARE level 2 course. Not only was no assessment done in the field leaving me to “shuffle” back to the trailhead in shock but no one ever contacted me afterward for follow up. As a physician and SAR volunteer(unknown to the instructor or company) I reached out to Tahoe Mountain School after the fact with what I intended to be constructive feedback. The response was essentially tone deaf, “sorry we heard that it was lack of skiing ability”. True, my skiing ability with a fractured ankle that required surgical intervention was incompetent at best but they missed the mark completely.
