Today I called the Trib. I wanted to find out about switching my monthly pension from one bank to another. As I was explaining how nervous I was about getting it right and filling out the correct form, she was upset with me then hung up. Not happy with her.

Couldn’t find it on 165 Capitol Avenue no signage!!! Have called repeatedly to get a form or to pick one up. Or have one sent. My printer doesn’t work so I need a hard copy. My checking account was compromised. Youths stole my mail and all the checks. I had to immediately close the account. I can’t believe you didn’t try to send a check to me when it was returned!!!!disgruntled !!! Sally Ann Tanasi

I have been trying for nearly two months now to transfer my pension deposits from one bank to another. I will probably lose the $600 incentive offered from my new bank to open a new account, because a direct deposit needs to be set up within 3 months. I finally reached a live person today, after having sent a physical form, emailing and calling several times. Well! She told me I was being rude when I went over the list of unhelpful and incompetent things the TRB has done. For example, it took them 4 years to change my physical address on record, after my numerous attempts to get it changed!
They are the worst. Retired teachers need an official liaison person to help us deal with our own retirement board! I wonder if the CEA has a lawyer that could help us with these people?

I am a teacher who will be retiring soon. I have attempted for 4 months to purchase service hours for time accrued - one year. I have called four times, emailed twice, and have yet to try faxing. There have been no return messages or emails. There is no accountability at this agency which by its name implies service for teachers. Why as a teacher and required to return calls and emails to my constituents ( parents) within two days. My paperwork has gone into a black hole!

Need something done regarding your retirement benefits? Don't call the CT TRB - they never pick up, and don't return calls. Thinking of faxing them instead? That's alright, as long as you don't mind getting your fax lost in their paperwork. Maybe sending them an email will be more efficient for your urgent matter? Only if you can wait 10 business days for them to reply. Connecticut has some of the worst retirement benefits for teachers in the nation, and their services are equally ineffective.

Every year it’s the same thing. I need proof of my Medicare Advantage coverage and payments to include with my completed IRS, and I get nothing automatically. I used to call a wonderful Retirement Examiner Benefits Division(LaToya Edwards) and she would accurately compute and promptly forward a letter. This year, 2021, her number is always busy as is Suzan Chasse’s. I sent a fax a couple weeks ago and also spoke with a representative at the number on the back of my coverage card. She promised to mail my proof, but nothing yet!!

The few times I had a question, I emailed and called numerous (4-5) persons and departments. Only one person responded to my emails. I left voice mail for numerous people, no one ever called back. Once the director emailed me back after I complained that no one responds to emails and voice mail. She was rude and basically told they were too busy to respond. Really? This is how we treat retired teachers? Ignore their concerns, then treat them with disrespect.
During covid, back in the spring/ early summer I emailed 3-4 people at TRB. It's now January 2021 and no response.

Never received my annual pension adjustment statement. Tried calling, which in itself is frustrating since none of the inquiries made sense. Then you can’t leave a message because the mailbox is full ( probably many like myself who did not get statement) and no email address to send request to. An antiquated system at best….

Go up
