Do NOT send or allow your child to be sent here if you want to be involved in your child’s care especially the medication management piece. Medication they are currently prescribed will be stopped without informing you, confusion over who is paying for medication, transfer of care is a problem, grievances aren’t answered, and if you point out the issues or escalate, the nursing leadership will begin to be spiteful, rude, vindictive and remind you that they have your child in their custody so you are a non-factor, no real collaboration. Take their suggestion or it will be “just so you know Mom refused….” because there is no dialogue just sign the consent and shut up. Obviously if they are there you don’t know anything as the parent, right? That’s the attitude. The direct care support (not management/prescribers) on their team are good to work and seem to have a good understanding of each individual child being hands on, they are the silver lining to this place. I pray my child can come home soon so we can begin to do the real work we thought we would be able to do here. I had high hopes but after 1 month I am extremely saddened and disappointed. Unfortunately, this isn’t her first placement (first secure) so I have a good frame of reference.

The buckeye ranch taught me to never give up and be a stronger version of myself. I miss some of the staff. I miss my clinician and I miss being in the groups and being able to not only fix myself but see my peers and their perspectives on things. I messed up a lot there but I held strong

Overall, my year experience as a staff was pretty decent. I encountered many children and many staff who genuinely cared about the kids . unfortunately, it was rough getting to work on time my supervisor Teresa. “ Miss T “ Basically ignored my attendance pretty much as long as I was helping her out. She would bend the rules when it would benefit her the second I took things to HR she switched. She literally tried to take my bonus away, so I went to HR thankfully HR was understanding and was able to give me my bonus but because of that “ miss T” Decided that she was going to talk to the CEO about my attendance to get me fired ! I don’t understand before I was coming in a little bit late it was all OK, but the second that I told on her for taking my bonus, she turns around and turn in my tardiness . So any new hires please be careful trust NOBODY. Literally everyone at that place is late, literally! Many staff can even Vouch this, some staff is even later than me. The crazy thing is, I don’t even think I was at my final warning She literally decided to do this because I went to HR on her about her taking my bonus ! She used to make up rules that I had to follow specifically in order for me to get my bonus ! She got me fired Because I picked up overtime, she was on vacation. So because I didn’t get it approved by her, she decided that she wasn’t going to give me my bonus. And I have to text messages to prove soon as I went to HR. She got in her feelings and got me fired. I am old enough and woman enough to admit I was late but again if I was picking up her units and working for her, she wouldn’t have had an issue ! Another staff literally just put in her two weeks notice because of her !
Overall, I genuinely love the kids and I genuinely love working with kids, so I’m still thankful for every thing !

In 2013, this place had its issues, but helped me tremendously… though there were three multi-repeat residents in my unit, alone. It was the most disheartening experience to interview there and to see the units now. They are not even a shell of what they used to be. The lights were all off in one unit, only one light filtering from the small office window, with residents standing around taking turns playing music on an iPod. No more furniture making it a warm environment fit for healing, except for uncomfortable looking chairs and one table. This all would have NEVER happened in 2013 - we would have been engaged in activities, learning new coping skills, or talking with staff. Pomegranate got shut down, and the Buckeye ranch I’m certain will be after them in the next 10-15 years, hopefully less. If you have had a bad experience here, please report it to the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. Take your kids to children’s hospital if they are in need of help.

this place was a joke, i definitely got more trauma than help being here. i witnessed another resident cutting themselves and trying to hang themselves in front of me. a lot of drugs got on my unit “nelson” which was also a co-ed unit and a transgender male gave me fake pills and me and another female od. we both almost died and it was so scary. i felt very uncomfortable around the staff, at lot of staff made racial remarks to me and there was a group of boys who jumped a old lady and stole her car. she was a sweet lady too. it’s a messed up crazy place. no stabilty. felt like jdc kinda and i was there before. i was there in 2022/2023

This place was like something out of a horror film for me. I was here for years. I try very hard to forget about my experience in The Buckeye Ranch’s residential program. I feel like I need to speak up about my personal experiences and things I had to witness while in this facility, I’d like to prevent any child from going through what I had to endure. I also would like to point out that there are many other ways to help your children without sending them away, if you do please take into consideration that they may leave this place with more issues and more trauma than they had to begin with. Just top 5 experiences I had to live through 1. Molested by another patient there 2. Witnessed staff abusing another patient 3. Witnessed many very brutal suicide attempts 4. Was jumped and attacked by other patients 5. Privacy did not exist, yes your minor child will be repeatedly strip searched in front of multiple adult staff it’s a requirement, I was even watched while showering.
There’s so many more things wrong with this place and because of it I’ll never fully be ok again, you truly lose all sense of dignity in this place. Have more questions reach out. If you went through this, reach out, maybe we can help others.

This is a home for kids who are having problems, so they may not appreciate how beautiful the grounds are, but I was surprised how peaceful and beautiful it is.
I liked taking walks around the place while visiting a teen living there. It seems it would be a very good place to get your mind and soul together at.
