I fled from a 28 year marriage with my abuser and since completing my intake with Kayla a couple of weeks later, my life has been profoundly impacted by the personnel at this center. Impacted positively that is! I enrolled in the waiting list for the Rapid-Rehousing program and 10 months later I’m in my own apartment! Wanda from the Rapid-Rehousing program has been so amazingly supportive. She helped me get a one time cash benefit to help with furniture, had me apply for emergency Snap benefits (that I didn’t think I’d be eligible for!), obtained a Bob’s Furniture gift card for me, etc.. She has gone above and beyond anything I could’ve ever expected! I’m also participating in several support groups hosted by Karen, an LPC, who is outstandinggggg, and Linda who hosts the Soar group on Tuesdays. These women are so kind and thoughtful while also guiding us to be the best version of ourselves. They are lifesavers! Finally, I have Marisela who volunteers for the center and is my “permanent” companion advocate for my divorce hearings. She’s also amazing!

I pray that this center continues to receive all the funding necessary for it to continue the tremendous impact it has on a community of people who have suffered enough trauma to last a lifetime.

How can you protect women of domestic violence IF YOU LOOSE THE PAPERWORK - I dropped off an application for a client to get a safe housing mailing address five days ago and nobody knows where who or what happened to the paperwork - LOL Epic fail at providing safety measures for the public

The counselors show favoritism to certain ethnic groups. In 10 years I’ve never seen an African American Couenlsor downtown. The counselors constantly change without notice. During the holidays they help their favorites. I now receive counseling elsewhere . There is to much discriminating there.

they always come to my school and talk about the same thing every time, change your curriculum for higher grades, talk about different conflicts each time, the only reason i give them a star is because they get us a day off of health class.
