ok, here I go... I have had two sons attend and graduate from TPAA. Both attended middle and high school here. It was great! I never had a problem. My boys never complained too much about anything and when their grades dipped or something was very off, their councilor (no longer there) did involve me. He had a plan and made sure my son and I were aware and involved. For all those obvious reasons, I enrolled my daughter as soon as the elementary opened. She attended 2nd - 5th grade there and really have not had any issues. Now that my daughter is at the end of her 6th grade (middle school), things kind of started "happening". Things like lots of subs, constantly having my child tell me she is in the gym with no teacher just coaches, gossiping, favoritism, peer pressure, alcohol and drugs being seen/talked about, etc., etc. Now nothing really caught my interest because it is middle school, changes are happening, lots of students coming from lots of walks of life so yes, our children will be exposed to things that they might not be at home, got it. However, lately, I have had conversations with my child in regards to how hostile she feels even more so in the classroom. Before I point out any details, I want to say that I have the utmost respect for teachers, they are the "parent" while at a school setting. I leave my child trusting that she will be in good hands. With that said, some conversations were had where my daughter states her teacher "yells" at her, or her teacher "points" her out in the classroom. I asked my child if she felt threatened, she said "no, but I felt uncomfortable". She asked me not to do or say anything yet, that if she felt like it was happening more and more, she would let me know. I agreed. The "yelling" and "shaming" continued. I am going to stop there for now and move on to ask why? and what? what happened? why has the school moral, discipline and conduct go down? I know that parent participation is a big part but we have to take into consideration that this is unfortunately a city where lots of kids are fosters and might not have the support at home that they need. Why are teachers becoming hostile, bitter and shaming? I understand deeply that teachers are underpaid and underrepresented but in this job, more than any, you should know that as a teacher you have the ability to leave a lifelong mark on student. You must LOVE what you do. I am 38 now and still remember some of my teachers, things they said and did to motivate, support or make me feel bad. I will be coming around more as a parent to contribute and hopefully get the school back to where it was. I agree with the other parent (rating) that long-lasting relationships are important and would hate to remove my child from this school but without real change, I see no point of continuing to hurt my child's emotions and phycological learning abilities.

The teachers are great and so is the campus, the adults treat us well but it’s the students that really mess up the school…A lot of reviews say a lot of things about bomb threats and I do understand where they are coming from but TPAA has many ways of keeping their students safe…I remember having a panic attack at the school due to fear of having a test and the teachers and campus supervisors helped me! I wouldn’t say this school is the best one but it’s certainly better than the rest of those ghetto schools…

Very pleasant experience so far. Teachers have been great. I like the idea of my kids growing up with the same group of kids, makes for lasting friendships.

Some teachers are nice and i loved having them but the admin and consequences are absolutely horrible. It used to be such a good place. Im sad that it is now just wasted potential, a school where there are no regulations and fights every day. The board doesnt care about teachers or students. Theyre all money hungry pigs.

My son is in the 11th grade, and the math that they are teaching, he already learned in middle school. Also there have been many cases of students selling drugs and doing drugs. Recently a freshman was drugged by a fellow student, and all the school did was a 3 day suspension. This is definitely a school that only cares about the money.

I'm a mother to two kids who go to tpaa, last year there were alot of bomb threats and it really spooked and traumatized my kids, all because of state testing. Not to mention theres alot of fights there and one kid even got a seizure while fighting, I dont recommend this school if you want your kid to not turn out traumatized
