I only went to this school to visit but I could tell it was a big scam. The staff talked about nothing but the rules such as no electronics no r-rated movies only healthy food etc. It did not sound like fun and the staff walk you to places even the bathroom. The girl who led our tour said she really really liked it there but you could tell it was rehearsed she had no emotion in her voice and her face didn't look to happy. If you want your kid living in a school with nothing but rules then this is the place for you. Plus they lied about not taking children with conduct disorders when it was clear they did because they had to be restrained.

This school has been amazing for our son and our family. It is true there are a lot of rules and students have to earn privileges, but that's life! You don't get something for nothing, and learning responsibility is a big part of the curriculum. With support, our son was able to earn all of his high school credits and move onto the transition program.

He is learning how live independently, have healthy peer relationships and search for and keep a job; all important life skills.

We live very far away, and have found the staff to be flexible, empathetic and communicative. I highly recommend TLC!

The Learning Clinic is an horrific place! They punish children for speaking, thinking, eating, walking and/or for just being human. My child (@ 14 years old) was punished severely for speaking to an adult before the adult spoke. He was told that "you are NEVER permitted to speak to any adult before the adult speaks to you and gives you permission to speak." The punishment was to sit on his bed for three days... no electricity, no books, no games, no food - NOTHING, "JUST SIT ON THE BED SO YOU CAN REFLECT ON HOW BAD YOU ARE!". He was not allowed to get off the cot for any reason. His feet COULD NOT TOUCH THE FLOOR! He could only use the toilet when an adult gave him permission. He could only eat,- alone, sitting on his bed, after everyone else finished eating, but ONLY with the permission of an adult or supervisor. This was cruelty to the extreme! My child was punished for asking a legitimate question, to an adult, before they granted him permission to speak... and for three entire days! Could you imagine if he had to say something urgent - like some one was injured or there was a fire. The Learning Center is a terrible place! I am very happy that I took my child out of that horrible place before he developed permanent mental and/or physical damage. I could go on with many more stories but you get the gist. If you care at all for your child, FIND A DIFFERENT FACILITY !

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE! I WAS A STUDENT HERE FOR 8 YEARS AND I WAS BADLY ABUSED. i am a mother now and my daughter is autistic as well. I would never put her through what i have been through. I was held down like george floyd for simply not wanting to eat. I didnt want to eat because i was depressed. I was depressed because i was being isolated in my room. They had hired a cop to pretend to send me to jail. Ill be honest i had made a fake Facebook to stalk my bf at the time who i thought was cheating. I was only 17..i was naive and meant no harm by it...however the cop that they told to come "teach me a lesson" screamed in my face. This happend on april 29th 2012 between 6pm and 10pm at pondview house. Ill even bet its still on there cameras
After this they locked m in a room at breeeze house for 3 months. They didnt let me talk to my mom or any student and if i did. I was repremanded. Punished serverly. One day i didnt want to eat. I was so depressed from being isolated from my family. Bev from breeze house who was very large told me "dont make me help you" all i wanted was to stay in my roon...but she grabbed me. She restrained me like george floyd. I couldnt breathe. I gasped for air and she didnt let up. I did fight bc i felt like i was dying. She just pushed harder. And they dont care. They dont care what they did to me. Not just me, many other students as well. You can even look up a recrnt lawsuit against them that they settled to shut everone up. There were former students protesting outside. PLEASE I BEG YOU FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NEVER SEND YOUR CHILD HERE EVER! take it from me, a former student of the learning clinic and mother of an autistic child.

I went to this program for 8 years, after leaving I was diagnosed with PTSD. I have bipolar/depression and pddnos. The staff here told me Id never be able to function outside a group home because of my disability. They also told me I should never have kids because they would be severely disabled and id lose them to DCF. Well I am a mommy now and a very good one! i left there over 2 years ago and I still have nightmares about the horrific place. The people who say "oh it helped my child do great" have no idea whats really going on. TLC lies to the parents! Trust me my mom was lied to for many months and is not happy with them. But the problem was that the truth never came out until AFTER i left. TLC would tell my mom I was crazy. What would happen was I would tell my mom what was going on and TLC would lie and say I am hallucinating or misinterpreting whats true. I had proof, but staff would confiscate it so I wasn't able to show my mother on home visits. While at TLC i was emotionally abused, neglected when it came to when i needed help with my mental health, and like i said I am now diagnosed with PTSD and have nightmares almost every night two years after leaving. I was finally able to show my mother the truth and she feels awful for keeping me there and is angry at them for lying . Don't send your kid there its a trap its just a way for people to them to make money. They will mess up your child Take it from someone who's BEEN THRU IT. They will be all goody goody to the parents face but once they leave the child gets abused!! It wasn't just me it was many others!!

I've been at this school for more than two years and I can say with great confidence that the majority of working staff members here have no idea how to work with students, and make the experience here terrible for me, and others. I don't recommend going here, please think twice before sending your child to this school, the administrators here have terrible communication skills and cannot put two and two together, that's all I have to say and I'm sure it's enough to make you realize how unprofessional this school is.

OK OK so this school has helped me. However it does not out weigh how bad this hell hole is over all. Staff dont care about the kids here. I have gone here for 3 year and it was good at first but like 3-4 months in i started to see what this school really is. If you want something to be done, dont waste your time. Don't go to this school just dont. If you are a parent and love your kid dont send them here.

I graduated from here in 1993, so unless they've undergone a major restructuring, I'm having a hard time believing the nasty reviews. TLC was the best thing to happen to me my entire childhood. I was a problem child, and they made me feel accepted.
