I love this trail! You can put in some work and also enjoy nature. As it is a loop, one side is mostly a moderate climb with a few, flatter, breaks in between and the other is an easy decline. Obviously, starting on the opposite side, there is an easy incline and a moderate descent. Very nice views either way.

Well maintained so far this year, as of 4/20/2025! There is a ton of poison ivy/oak along the trail, but it is trimmed back far enough to easily avoid. We like to do counter clockwise, taking the steep part first. It's around ~1,000 feet of elevation gain from the parking area around the loop. Nice little hike. Very steep in the first part but there are a few lulls where you can catch your breath, then it's all downhill for the rest of the trail. Parking is $10 cash in an envelope, or pay at the ranger's station with a card. Can't pay online anywhere as of this review, would like to see that change.

I love to get out here and reconnect with K2. I do it when I get my first trail runs in and am training. Whew. The first road is always ‘I did it!’ I ran from the Fire Station in Cool down to Wendell and around Headed downhill to 49 and up Training Hill back to Cool. Just under 6 miles and a great workout đŸ‹ī¸

Nice climb that works your whole lower body. It takes me about 45 minutes to get up this hill. At the top you will be in Cool and a gentle oak forest. You can make a loop on the downhill if you bear left at every turn.

A 4.8 mile loop which is steep for almost half of it opens up to meadows on top. My wife and I prefer going up the steep part first which is to the right. Beautiful hike with a lot of scenery and a lot of exercise. You may come across horse riders but not a big deal for us. Can be a little muddy in some parts so bring proper footwear. Took us around 2.5 hours.

Not showing the hard parts. What a day! Just gorgeous and a good way to judge what kind of shape you're in! Gonna make this a habit. It's so worth the effort.

One of if not my favorite hike. It's definitely a go-to. Lots of uphill at the beginning, then it levels off and you have multiple routes you can take. You can do over 20 miles or you can do a shorter 5 miles or anything in between.

This was a great hike. Started very steep but it was easy after 30 minutes or so. It was flat after that for most of the time until last 15 minutes. Lot of hikes are merging on this hill so you may get confused if you don't have good map but GPS works at the top so that's helpful. Starting point to hike to training hill is not visible until you start on other hikes and change your route so be aware of that.
