Just renewed my BLS with this company. I used them last year and the class was very professional. I’m an RN in CTICU WITH 40+ years of experience. This class was a combined one with AHA BLS and ARC CPR/first aid. This was my first experience of this but the instructor Jonathon assured everyone that the two classes were essentially the same except the BLS students took the 25 question open book exam and the CPR/first aid students stayed longer at the end to complete that portion. The instructor was very amiable, went out of his way to assist a physically handicapped student with the practical aspects of the class, which was a real mix of people, 1 realtor, 1 broker, 1 pharmacy student. An 18 yr old who worked in a local theme park and her mother who wished to open a child care business, a pediatrician and myself. I understand that the class has to accommodate all levels of skill but when incorrect information is given I think this needs to be addressed. The two major issues that stood out for me were
1. When telling us how to palpate the brachial pulse on a baby, we were to lift up its arm and palpate the side of its chest!!!!! The pediatrician and I were speechless.
2. When discussing the removal of medicine patches from a patient’s chest before defibrillation ( fentanyl ) he stated that his “mentor” had told him that if you were to touch one with your bare fingers it would 100% end in death!!! As a nurse of many years I know it is undesirable to have the contents of these patches on your fingers but I’ve never heard of a 100% death rate before. It would be laughable if it wasn’t for the fact that the non medical people in the group had no other experience than what they were being told. There were many other issues with the class which left me disappointed with Lifeworks standards of teaching now. As I said at the beginning, I’ve taken a class with this company before which was perfectly ok but this experience has left me vowing to not use them or recommend them again. I can’t criticize the instructor as he seemed to be implying that this is what he’d been taught! Perhaps instructors need to be vetted better.

Very well organized and presented. The instructor gave us his own experiences and made the oral presentation interesting with audience participation involvement. Mind you, this class started one hour after I had already worked an eight hour shift so keeping me interested, moreover awake was paramount and he did just that. The practical aspect was quick as this was a refresher course and all equipment was there for us to observe and utilize. I will love to take another refresher course from our instructor when it comes time to renew again. Thanks!

The class was very informative and hands on as well. The teacher Andrea could not be more detailed and amazing. She taught in a way you can understand with lots of examples, answer all are questions and has so much knowledge. I give her a 10!! My experience was great would highly recommend!

Great instructor! She spoke very fast, gave out tons of information in an easy to understand manner, reviewed test questions throughout the class. Only complaint is online registration made it seem the training manual was required for class. Did not need it and I’m out $20 for a book I’ll never use!

This is my second time taking a CPR/AED course and this was the best and most engaging class ever. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable. They were approachable and the curriculum was very easy to process. Most of all the environment was fun and it made the learning experience extremely enjoyable. I will definetly come back to this class in particular to renew my certification when it's time. I drive from Anaheim Orange County and it us worth it. Thank You!!

This was an Excellent Class, Very informative. Instructor very interactive and kept us engaged. Even though I have been an instructor for a while she had great info great ideas and shared her passion about CPR and Saving lives. I recommend Victoria Burk as an instructor 100%.

I have been taking this BLS course every two years in this facility and I have learned a lot over the years, but I have never had an instructor as amazing and interactive as Victoria Burke. She is an extraordinary teacher with a great passion for what she is doing. She is very experienced and knowledgeable. I learned a lot from her class and the next time when it is time to renew my CPR certification, I will definitely make sure to have my class with Victoria again!!
