All of the amenities were nice. My room was pretty basic but clean and comfortable. The fireplace is a nice touch. The grounds were well kept. The food was mostly good although some people attending classes got sick and put a damper on the end of week courses. I did not get sick and tried not to let that influence my overall experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. All in all, it was an enjoyable stay.

The most stunning retreat center I’ve stayed at — and I’ve been to a lot of retreats! The food is delicious, with diverse options at each meal to accommodate any dietary restrictions. The lodgings are beautiful, cozy, and comfortable. Conference rooms were equally cozy, with upscale rustic aesthetics, AV features, and services that tailor to your group’s every need. The grounds themselves are breathtaking, with well-kept amenities and activity options throughout (pool, gym, hiking trails, zen deck, putting green, etc) and picturesque views at every turn. All that said, what carries the UCLA lodge to the very top is their incredible staff. Their hospitality and attention to detail never waivers, going above and beyond to cater to whatever needs your event calls for. Our team is eagerly awaiting our next visit.

With heartfelt gratitude, I want to express our sincere appreciation for Mr. Mike’s exceptional kindness and care. When our daughter became sick late at night, he was there without hesitation at 11 p.m. to help us remove the bedding. Noticing our concern, he even went back to the lodge and returned with crackers and Sprite to bring her some comfort. His genuine thoughtfulness, remarkable customer service, and warm friendliness far surpassed our expectations. We would like to extend a personal thank you for his dedication and compassion; it truly meant so much to our family in a difficult moment.

In the past our experiences at the Lodge with UCLA-affiliated folks have been excellent, or this rating would have been lower. We recommended the Lodge to some friends who wanted to come visit for New Year's. They booked a room and were told there was a buffet dinner for $85. We thought that sounded lovely, food has always been good when we've eaten there in the past. Unfortunately, the buffet was very disappointing. A decent salad, decent turkey breast, awful sad bone-dry overdone swordfish that tasted like pressed protein powder. A prime rib carving station was ok. Service was almost non-existent, we had to get soft drinks at the bar because nobody came to our table for close to 30 minutes to check on us. The dessert choices were a slice of cheesecake (decent, not great) and some little chocolates like you'd get in a Whitman sampler. No wine or drinks included. Very disappointing and not worth it. But what was much worse was that when my friend went to the lodge the following morning to get a latte, she was told at the front desk that since she wasn't UCLA-affiliated, she couldn't go to the area where the espresso machine was. They literally put yellow wristbands on my friend's family, where the UCLA people wore blue ones. I feel extremely embarrassed to have recommended this experience to my friends. And I think it is extremely ill-advised to set up a caste system in this kind of lodging setting. We also found out that the UCLA people had a much fancier buffet dinner up on the second floor. If we had been told this ahead of time, we would not have booked this place. I was really happy to hear that they had opened up the Lodge to non-UCLA people, but I will now be very leery of recommending or visiting it unless I'm with a UCLA friend.

Absolutely charming historic property on the north side of lake Arrowhead. Only recently opened to the public, rooms are available on this lakeside property. The food, long known to be the best on the mountain, is now open to everyone in the dining room. The tavern is a charming mountain theme with great drinks and friendly staff. I love going here for Thursday night football games.

Went up again for our yearly retreat. Was a fantastic time, as always. The chef challenge was a HUGE success and was so much fun. The beauty of the grounds is always so welcoming and serene, the Zen deck is always a fave for activities and a magical sunrise. Thanks for helping with another fantastic experience!

We have gone since the 1990s. It's the best week of the year. No cooking, the kids have a blast and you get to see beautiful lake, nature, new friends, etc.
