The communication from this company is the WORST I have ever seen. They have done a horrific job with placements for the 2024-2025 school year. Throughout the summer, we received zero emails or calls regarding placements or information about potential start dates. It is now week 3 of the school year and still NOTHING! The last school year ended in mid-June. How is 3 months, not enough time to communicate with schools and figure out placements?

If they cared about their employees the least they could have done was email all of us in mid-July letting us know placements could have a delay. Informing us earlier would've given us time to explore other options while we waited. INSTEAD, they waited until the END of the first week of school and ONLY after receiving tons of emails from concerned employees to inform us that they are still "waiting" to hear back from the schools. A co-worker told me that they contacted their previous school, to see if they knew what could be causing the delay and, the school informed them that University Instructors HAD NEVER contacted them about 2024-2025 tutor placements.

If anyone is considering applying PLEASE make sure you have a backup job before considering this company! If you are not looking to be a lead instructor (a.k.a. a full-time solo teacher), then you WILL be waiting a while for placement with little to no updates from this company.

I referred my friend to the company, and they had an interview, but the recruiter NEVER SHOWED UP. Keep in mind that this interview was online via Teams. It's clear that this company has no respect for your time and couldn't care less about their employees. Understand that being hired for a position doesn't guarantee you another job after your contract ends. Once your contract for this school year ends you are pretty much UNEMPLOYED until they give you a new placement which who knows when that will be. Again HAVE A BACKUP job prepared!

It's really unfortunate that things have taken a turn for the worse and unprofessionalism has become prevalent. I had a great experience with this company last school year but it does not look like I will be able to this school year. The pay is great, but the stress and headaches of dealing with the company are NOT worth it. You'd be better off working directly with your local school system as it provided me with more job security and tenure when I worked in mine. I did Long-term substituting with my local school systems for 3 years and it provided me with guaranteed pay, and jobs starting immediately at the beginning of each school year.

Don't let the pay deceive you; the grass is NOT greener on this side.

Of course, my experience is NOT the case for every school district or placement. Some people have been lucky and had ZERO issues with this company. My recommendation based upon my OWN experience is to keep your guard up and a, second job just In case.

Please do not waste the candidates time with interviews if you're going to tell them they do not have the 'skills set' at the last minute. That should have been determined when the candidates first showed their resume. This review goes to recruiters Daniel, Melissa, and Jessica in the Union City CA location. Do better planning next time and do not waste the candidates time. Use common sense and read candidates resumes carefully.

Extremely unorganized, BUT if you are a "go along to get along"/do as you're told personality type, and/or need a job fast without much experience, then you'll be fine.
(Full-time, no benefits, no pay when there is no school.)

Program managers and coordinators have no idea what they are doing and have difficulty with their communication chain of command- one never knows what the other manager or coordinator is/isn't doing (yet they are always "in a meeting" somewhere offsite...). They show up to observe at schools once a week for a couple of hours. You're asked for "feedback" so that they can figure out how to run the program.
This allows the schools to take advantage of the tutors and what they dump on them to do which is different than what tutors are told to do through the company.

The Epic program through Baltimore City Was not a good program for Middle School Students Who Have Behavioral Issues And Special Needs. The Cite coordinators had poor leadership. Many Teachers resigned because of the lack of support from leadership. . The Teacher Assistants were always being held liable for the job duties that weren’t pertaining to their job descriptions. Leadership would cover up and make false accusations about teacher assistants talking to students in a inappropriate manner, when they themselves were talking to students in a inappropriate manner.
