University of Tabriz (UoT) is one of the oldest universities in Iran, with several faculties and majors. One important thing about this place is its comprehensiveness so that you are in touch with diverse disciplines and viewpoints. However, the greatest part of UoT is its green field! You feel like you are walking in the middle of heaven, especially in the spring and autumn. Hopefully, my department is in the old part of UoT, which is like a jungle around buildings!

I give it two stars only for it’s campus.
There are a lot to say but i warn you, if you’re not from tabriz, make completely sure that you can live in this city and university which are not what they show of themselves. This university is an old one but it’s neither gold or good. Students are mostly from Tabriz and the same province; this makes university’s atmosphere exactly like the Tabriz city : illiterate, illiberal and egocentric. Though Zanjan, Ardabil or other turkic cities of iran are not like this at all. People of this city (and eventually university’s atmosphere) are ideological and aggressive to anyone who is not agree to them.
Moreover university’s administration part is terribly awful and weak. They do not respect student’s time and rights and words at all. They are a great example of bureaucracy.
Overall if you respect your self, stay away of this city and of course the university.

not good university for graduate school. most of the professors in Geography Faculty don't take care about students' researches and their questions. only old university not good and valuable one.

The best university of NW Iran and one of the bests of Iran. With knowledgeable professors and nice environment. As a student you will love the nature and greens especially in Spring and you will enjoy colorful leaves in Fall.

I have been there for more than 4 years as a Ph.D. student. Most of the university staff aren't good guys. They do their best for the most serious deal with everything. The university educators (Professors, Associated Prof. or Assistance) absolutely haven't any attempt for teaching. The subjects that they teach in Ph.D. carrier were a SMALL PART of my education in B.Sc. or sometimes M.Sc.!!!
On the other hand, Tabrizian people are lovely and kind.

I took part in 10th international congress on civil engineering in here and I did my associate degree here. I also was a part of the executive team of "Royesh" festival of inventions which was held by the national elites foundation in Tabriz university. So I know from personal experience that this place is an old , big university in which you can learn much from the academic staff.

I took my B.A from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM) and my M.A from Tabriz University. If i give 3 out of 5 to FUM, this one deserves a 4. For people who are not Azeri, there is a cultural (specially language) difference and it might be difficult to adapt. Rather than that, this university does have excellent academic staff, specially in psychology faculty.
