I would not recommend anyone live in these crappy, barely held together apartments. I recently moved out of Elliot Village and everything about the apartment and its “amenities” are poor. The university charges over $800 for a tiny 2-bedroom unit without utilities. The paint is slopped on, it doesn’t even go all the way to the bottom of the baseboards. There are hairs stuck in the paint all over the place. Over half of the outlets in the unit didn’t work or barely held onto plugs. The kitchen counters are painted with regular house paint, and the paint comes off with no effort at all. I put my microwave on the counter and it immediately took off paint. My front door was almost impossible to open during the winter, I had to ram my shoulder into the door while twisting the key to even get in. The heat went out when it was in the negatives outside. There was no on-call maintenance staff and all I was given was a space heater. I had to call North Western Energy just to get it fixed. The maintenance guy came by the NEXT DAY and didn’t do anything because I took the initiative so I didn’t freeze to death the night before. The community assistant that gave me the space heater said there was nothing else they could do because maintenance “can’t do overtime” and they’ve been getting calls for a KNOWN ISSUE with the heat going out. The last week I was in the unit, I needed to do laundry and only 4 of the 13 or so washing machines were working. No one cares about these units or the laundry. Yet they treat them like they are made of gold. The university will even charge you if you accidentally “damage grass” with a moving truck, they’d charge $25 for “damaged grass”. Elliot Village is an absolute joke and they just want new tenants and they don’t care about the units at all, and do the bare minimum. When I moved in, the range hood over the stove top was not even clean and was COVERED in grease and there was a fly stuck in the grease. Pathetic, I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE live in these awful apartments. Every aspect of the unit was awful.

I would be careful leaving your valuables out or medication or if you are a woman as the staff will give you a letter of when they need to enter, but dont provide a specific time and if they think you arent home they will barge in so make sure you dont let your guard down.

What is the obsession with mowing several times a week? It's noisy, antiecological and sincerely bothering.

I live over in the Toole area and it is absolutely wonderful. The apartments are really nice and pretty roomy for the townhouses. We never hear our neighbors. I love that we have a playground right in our backyard for our kids, but sometimes unsupervised kids can be an issue. We've had a couple of maintenance issues, but once I put in a work order with the front desk the issues were resolved within a couple of days. Also I love my community assistant. She always has been super helpful for my family when we need her.

Toole apartments have beautiful wood floors and are spacious. Modern appliances that work well. Any issue of maintainence is resolved quickly and my sink and windows were fixed within a day of needing maintainence. Close to campus and the buses come right to the end of the drive. Go slow when driving down cinnabar because of speed bumps and unsupervised children. Fun movie nights for families and holiday events in the community center.

Love living in Sisson complex. Provides everything I need, and is very close to campus yet far enough to not feel like you are living at school. Perfect views and overall an excellent living experience! Highly recommend.
