I like the idea of vox church, perhaps others agree, because it is more lively than the boring, predominantly white churches I once attended, because it attracts different types of people, there is something easy and anonymous about it, I can slip in to the large space and worship and leave without too much of an exchange, but since the church attracts all types of people I think the music should reflect it but it is the same repetitive rock style contemporary Christian stuff, which is better than some other worship music, especially in a church where people don't sing, but they insist on not letting back up singers be heard enough which looks so weird plus I don't know what they're doing with people's voices. Also Branford needs more seats because it has gotten crowded when I have gone.

From the moment you walk in, you are happily greeted and welcomed by all. Service is amazing with a talented worship team and a message from Pastor Justin that explains the Bible, relatable to what we are going through and how Jesus is here and ready to walk through all of life with us. Go check this church out, you will be glad you did!
PS: They have the best coffee in town and it’s free.

God put this on my heart to share with everyone. I recently visited Vox because I’ve been having difficulties going to my regular church. I went on their website site and read over their beliefs and decided to give it a try, because everything sounded good so far. I went in with an open mind and heart, just ready to worship amongst a different crowd. The band is great and talented and their performance was enjoyable.

However, there were some red flags:

1) The communion: They did communion (not an issue at all), but did it in such a casual manner. It was kind of like, “Okay we’re doing communion now” and they passed out the crackers/juice and the band immediately started playing music. I look around and there are some people taking communion and some people not. I was confused. How can we as a church do communion if it’s not being explained for people who may be new or lack the knowledge and understanding?

2) The teaching: The pastor comes out and says we’ll be going over John. “Great!” I thought, and was just ready and willing to learn something new. Everything is OK until the pastor says that we betray Jesus everyday (okay so far), but then asks us: “Do you know who else betrayed Jesus? God the Father betrayed Jesus”. What? Excuse me? Immediately I knew something was wrong with this church. Regardless of the point behind the message, I wouldn’t dare let those words leave my mouth. God the Father betrayed NO ONE. God is perfect, we are not. He’s never done anything wrong, and Vox is very lucky to be standing today because to even let yourself say that is blasphemous.

3) Prayer: There was a family (husband, wife, and child) that the pastor invited on stage to pray for. I believe they are going on to another location or something like that, but that doesn’t really matter. The pastor asked us to pray with him, for the family on stage. However the prayer was very short, didn’t seem genuine, and the pastor kept mentioning Vox and asking us to donate and join in to “support the mission” during the prayer. Kind of odd to lead a prayer that way, and it just seemed off. Obviously this is the least worrisome thing out of the three, but still worth noting for anyone wondering what type of pastor you’ll be encountering, should you choose to go to Vox.

I can’t recommend this church, and I actually think God was trying to stop me from going. There was crazy traffic—30 minutes worth—and we ended up missing the service in New Haven, so we decided to re-route to the Branford location. I encourage people to not go, and to seek a different church. If you’re stumped, just talk to God. However I can confidently say that He does not want me or anyone else to visit this church. Pray for discernment, and any time a word doesn’t sound right or sit well with you, chances are it’s incorrect and you were being misled. Always pray, pray, pray for deeper understanding of the word. If you’re searching for clarification, talk to God.

God bless you. 🤍

Vox unifies, speaks messages of truth and hope, as well as provides opportunities to serve others through local outreach. I appreciate how the services prioritize scriptural readings to inform people of Biblical consistency, especially amongst our current times. It’s a community that prioritizes all generations | families. 🥰
