Great education facility, and great adult ed program. Hugely improved from what it was ten years ago when I went for welding.
David Guinn, the adult ed department head, is a man who really cares about the school and the students. If you sign up for the advanced manufacturing technology adult ed course, you will get a lot of great hands on experience, as well as a complete knowledge base. A piece of advice about the advanced manufacturing technology instructors: let Steve Abner do most of the teaching you receive, he is simply better at teaching. The other instructor, who co-teaches the course alongside him, Jeff, has his moments where he can really shine, but don't let him push you around and mess with you too much. My experience with Jeff has been mostly him telling stories about all the places he has traveled to and worked at, and telling me to "figure it out" and not actually helping or explaining things, or teaching, whenever I asked him for help or to explain something, and micromanages you. You might as well be learning without an instructor if Jeff is involved, because you are not being taught, anyway. Don't let him push you around, and turn to Steve for help and instruction.

Attending WCCC has been great. I'm almost finished with the PLC Technician classes. For someone working and attending Adult Education classes, I have had a great experience of getting to work at my pace. There is always something to learn and another skill to work on. The instructors are helpful and always available when you need them. Any time I've had trouble, they have always been able to help me understand.

Great school with great programs. I have been attending the career center for over a year now in the Electromechanical PLC course and this school has helped me learn a vast amount and it has helped me attain a job as a maintenance technician and Dave Guinn the head of advanced manufacturing helped me write a decent resume and cover letter to get the job I attained, he also has helped me find multiple temp agencies and multiple job openings, this school has helped me gain the experience I needed to start my career and is a great school to attend with many great programs.

The staff prepared me for everything, they did a great job of teaching me. I liked how they had a lot at their disposal, they really kept everything up to date and brand new. I liked it so much that I recommended this career center to my friends and some of them have attended as well.

1) It took 2mos. to get the tools necessary for 2 classes.
2) It took several class days to get textbooks for more than one class. In an accelerated program, that is a huge chunk of schoolwork to catch up on.
3) The grading weighs attendance way too heavily. If you attend class, you can completely bomb any comprehension test and still pass. This ensures a high graduation rate.
4) The administration is attempting to employ a new policy where students will be fined $8.50 for every hour of school missed. This is to be paid in addition to tuition. There is nothing in the student handbook that allows them to change the contract the students and school agreed upon. It was also stated that if a student leaves 15min. early, they will lose attendance credit for the whole night. 10 min early, you lose 1/2 credit.

This is an ADULT education program, yet they want to treat you like one of the delinquents that occupies the building during the day. Most of us have jobs we work during the day, many have children. The school's revenue-producing attendance policy is not very compassionate towards the people writing $7,500 checks for the school to incompetently attempt to provide a service they claimed they could.

I was a part of the 5 week STNA program. It went very well and the classes were able to fit into my schedule nicely. The staff was very good and they were supportive as well. They presented me with many job opportunities that they knew were available which in the end landed me a job in the field after I completed the program.
