West Alabama Heritage Learning Center is a fantastic resource for those with roots in Northport, Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in general, or surrounding areas in west Alabama. Its collection includes books, including ones written by local historians, and loose-papers files with notes and articles compiled by various researchers about local families, institutions (e.g., churches), and events of importance.

The staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming and generous with their time. There's parking behind the Center, as well as on the street. If you have roots in this part of Alabama and have some time to visit, I highly recommend spending time at the Center. You won't be disappointed.
