Extremely unprofessional. Owner has no idea how to run a business. Was in a flight program through a university and I flew my flight hours out of wings. she failed to schedule us a check ride in advance. She said because we could have failed it so she waited a week before the end of the semester to start looking so I ultimately failed the class. I also misssd a whole semester waiting for a check ride. That’s like taking a class and being told you’re not allowed to take the final cuz you might not pass… so you fail. Anyone who knows anything about check rides know that you have to schedule it months in advance. I was ignored and mocked everytime I brought up scheduling the check ride for the future before the semester ended because I didn’t have my hours yet. They have no clue how to operate with veterans and there is a very high feeling of disrespect towards you from management. Honestly just glad I never have to go back there. Avoid at all cost. I was more stressed out and angry flying with these morons than I was in the Marine Corps.

A couple of months ago, I went to rent a Cessna 172 and was assigned to fly with Rich Payne. Unfortunately, my interaction with him was highly unprofessional and unpleasant. I feel compelled to share my experience here in order to caution other prospective renters. During the pre-flight briefing, instead of discussing important flight details, Mr. Payne predominantly focused on recounting his time in the Air Force. Once we were in the air, he instructed me to fly on a north heading, but when I followed his instructions, he became agitated and claimed I wasn't heading north. I pointed to the Heading Indicator to show him my course, but instead of acknowledging his mistake, he insisted that he meant true north. Upon landing, he interrupted the taxi back to parking to debrief certain aspects of the flight, which I have never encountered before. I suspect that he was intentionally prolonging the time to maximize his payment. Furthermore, he continuously boasted about the professionalism of the flight school and himself, to the extent that it seemed like he was trying to convince himself rather than me.

Completed another review; a little early as I was in town. Good experience with Rich, my instructor. Picked up some really useful tips on energy management in the review.

A great place to fly. Friendly people and a good sized fleet of planes. Nut Tree is a great little airport.
