Jerry has been tutoring my 5th grader in math for a few months. Although my son was actually doing well in math, he lacked self-confidence and struggled to overcome minor set backs. Jerry has helped my son advance his math skills, for sure. But more importantly, he's challenged my son with just the right amount of advanced work that his confidence has grown noticeably. My daughter is at 7th grade and she started with Jerry on English tutoring about four months ago. My daughter could understand the general idea of an article or a book but had challenge to understand its deep meaning. Jerry helped her a lot by coaching her how to read with a questioning mind. My daughter also had challenge to connect her ideas in a logical and clear way when writing, and Jerry taught her the effective way of framing her main idea and supplement that main idea with supporting explanation and examples. My daughter loves to have her weekly tutoring class with Jerry and is proud of how much she learned and improved. Our 11yo son struggles with ELA in school and we were seeking additional one-on-one support for him. We were so thankful to find Jerry with Y3K Tutoring— he has a varied background teaching kids of different ages, ranging from those considered “gifted” to ones needing help to get to grade level. During my initial call with Jerry, I was very optimistic that this would be a good match. While our longer-term needs were around improving our son's writing skills, in the short term, we needed help with test and interview prep for school applications. We could see almost immediately the impact of Jerry's work-- our son was able to implement several strategies on our son's verbal/reading comp practice tests, and he also felt much more at ease going into school interviews. For the longer term, Jerry has pinpointed several gaps in our son's writing that he wants to work through over the next few months as well. Most importantly, Jerry is kind and patient and has become such a positive presence and cheerleader for our kid!

We would have given Jerry 6 stars if we were able to do so, because 5 stars just cannot explain the quality of his tutoring. Our child has grown in a myriad of ways: as an independent, confident thinker, and one who has learned the benefits of nurturing a healthy executive function skill-set. Jerry can infuse humor into tough moments, rendering them more palatable and teachable. As a good measure of the success of working with Jerry, our child always looks forward to meeting with him; self esteem has improved a great deal.
