I wanted to really love this gym, and there are good things, but sadly the use of funds for certain things + not others is very disappointing. I have a membership mostly for the yoga + pilates classes, but they host these in a very filthy basement "studio" that is in the basement of the Men's living facility (not the main Y exercise building), and its awful and smells. There is a brand new room with wood floors and mirrors in the main building (would be very appropriate for yoga) but they wont move those classes.

We are looking at other gyms in the area and very sad to have to leave.

Coach Joanna is just wonderful. Her patience and love for her students is admirable. She is truly passionate about what she does. My daughter loves being in her gymnastics class; and I look forward to watching the class weekly!

Kyokushin karate has a branch at Glendale YMCA. Great traditional karate. Wednesdays: Kids' class 5:30-6:30pm. Adult class 7-9pm.

If I was being honest, this place is dated and you can see and SMELL how old it is. However, this place has a lot of plus that I would try to share as much as I can:

1. Parking - members here have private parking and so you can relax and not stress about finding parking.
2. Reliable Facilities - the facilities are dated but they are currently doing remodeling to different amenities that they have to make them modern.
3. Abundance of programs - they have a daycare, a gymnastics class, basketball class, cycling, etc. i personally do not use these programs but if I had a kid and wanted to socialize them, this is the way.

Overall, I am really happy with this Y. It is not perfect and is really dated, but their effort of renovating the place is making me hopeful of its future. Maybe by then it will be a 5 stars review for me.

Parking used to be great but now they've added 8 "guest" parking spots directly in front of the doors. Not fair for members who don't want to park in the garage. There should be many more outside spots for members than there are.

For some reason the hot water seems to go out every few weeks in the girls' locker room. Not happiness!

Cleanliness is in short order...gobs of hair strands abound on the pool deck which is just gross. Don't the lifeguards see this? The clock is constantly missing because "it needs a battery." Please. And the big "second hand" clock is frequently unplugged. Staff doesn't seem to really care about running a top notch facility. These are little things that could easily be taken care of.

On the plus side, the pool IS kept clean and warm at 86°.

I am from Illinois, but came to this YMCA on a trip. I have benefited from the away program that allows me to visit other YMCA’s for years. Had a great swim and sauna. More importantly, I was greeted and helped with warm and friendly smiles, especially from Joseph at the front desk. Thank you YMCA for great programs great venues and great people!

Pool sucks, so much chlorine it will burn your nostrils and always way too crowded. Plus, the whole place has super limited hours on Sat and open for only a few hours on Sunday. Why would I get a gym membership and then can't go on the weekend. I got the family pass so the kids could enjoy too, but their free classes are nothing anyone wants to do. All the good classes are extra money. Although my daughter did love the paid gymnastics class. Staff is friendly. One hour free child care is just okay. Going another way.
