We have been with the YMCA for the last 6 years in the youth soccer division. The last few years have really took a downfall for the worst. No coches provided for any of the teams. No proper communication on games and practices. They cancel games and or practices last minute as well. This last summer season β€˜24 my husband went in to the office to volunteer to be a coach and he was told by the director Mark that it was not necessary since his STAFF would step up to coach. The Staff assigned to coach are immature, not responsible children. For practice parents have to go look for who will coach and remind them it’s past the start time. It’s sad to have to part for the Y since we have along the years met many families and created a strong bond in the game. For now I recommend any new members looking for a safe place to enroll their kids, that they do research for a more professional, responsible and ethical program.

I have mixed experiences with YMCA. Sometimes, when you get a gem of a coach it can be great, but mostly everything starts and ends late. At least the sports do. The swimming lessons were right on time. The main reason I give 2 stars is we ended up with a coach who had way too much ego in the game during our most recent soccer experience. My oldest child has Autism, which we noted on his sign up form, but he really wanted to try soccer and the doctor thought it would be good for him, so we signed him up. The coach, even after my husband talked to him would only let him play 2 to 3 minutes out of a 40 minute game, (REALLY not cool in pay to play sports), and no other player was austrociced that way. Other players would tease him and there was no response from coach. My child was very hurt and upset by all this and no mom wants to have her child in tears after every game. I get that my kid was not the best player on the team (I'll even admit he was the worst), but he was also the only one with no experience (also noted on this sign up form), and he will never improve with 2 minutes of game time. The way he was treated was unpardonable.

I went to the Stockton YMCA and the front staff was very nice and helpful. I spoke to the Aquatics Director - Ashley - and she has been helpful everytime I have called her.
Both of my children are starting swimming lessons tomorrow.
I will update my review once the kids have been in their swimming lessons for a little bit.

I enrolled my child to swimming lessons for the first time ever, I accidentally chose guppy instead of pike which is for beginners. I didn't like the fact that on their website it doesn't give you the option to change from pollywog to pike or guppy. You would have to pay all over again the 65$. I called the Y and they said they would take care of it and send an email to confirm pike swimming lessons time and location. They haven't sent anything yet. I think I will have to go in person this time to solve such issue.

Horrible place to enroll your kids! This place is run unprofessionally. As a parent I would stay far far away from ymca!!! If you want your children to learn and improve then this place is a NO NO! Don't enroll your kids here if your looking for professional coaching. They randomly just hire any regular parent that has no skills on coaching whatsoever! The coaches are not paid so they're just volunteer coaches. Couple of the coaches have their kids in the sports at YMCA and ymca allows the couches to couch their kids at the same time they are couching other kids and guess what the couches are only focusing on their own kids at the time of practice and even the game (which prevents other students from learning). Not to mention I had my little one in 7- 8 year old category in Basketball but he had two girls who were 13 and 14 on his team and this prevented a lot of children from scoring and getting the ball because those two girls were super tall and controlling they were in control In all of the games. The couches left out children and outcast them in games and in practices he couches even allowed children to treat other children to be outcasted . There were 2 kids who never got the ball in all the games and in practicees other kids wouldn't pass them the ball and the couches didn't do anything about it. Not to mention I even saw one of the poor kid crying after the game to his parents regarding this. The two volunteer coaches had their sons In the team they were always focused on their kids and not much on other students not to mention all of the students kind of felt obligated to always give couches kids the ball. I filed a complaint into the office and spoke to the main lady who's in charge and guess what she didn't care to do anything about it (left voicemails she never returned them). This just shows how unprofessional YMCA is. They only care about money, they don't care for the students, they don't care that they're mixing all different age groups into one group, they hire lame couches who aren't profession with no skills at all on couching!!

The people here give you such a run around. I had to call back and speak to the same person 5 times about being over charged for childcare. All they said they could do was leave a msg to receive a phone call back. After 3 weeks of back and forth with several people, some of which who don't even work here anymore, I pick up my refund and it is short smh. So now I'm going through the same thing again with the run around. I wont be doing business with this janky place anymore.

They work hard for our children of today.
Its truly difficult with the unruly children of today who are disrespectful along with the parents who don't want to hear there child is disruptive or the late parents with ever excuse of being late constantly.
Hats off YMCA
