My locker was broken into even though I had a lock on it and I had to file a police report. The front desk people didn’t know what to do nor did they bother calling me after promising they would. DJ who’s the operations manager of the facility said it was. “wasn’t their problem or held liable for the theft”. Even though I was paying for the locker that had my property in it. They were unwilling to reimburse me for what was stolen or for a new lock. They beat around the bush whether they broke the lock themselves assuming I didn’t pay (even though I did pay and was current on payment).
Unwilling to help and have a deep lack of urgency about the situation, they brushed it off as not their problem.

As for staff there was a few that offered sympathy, but a majority of them had attitude and eye rolling.

Other issues with the facility:
Very outdated built in assumably the 1960s. Constant mildew and feet smell in the workout areas. Lack of cleaning in sauna and equipment, PEOPLE BREAKING INTO LOCKED LOCKERS. It’s a rundown facility with a lack of staff that cares about why they are there.

I will never be going back to the YMCA of Sandusky county. The most clueless and incompetent staff I have ever met. As you read this (03/05/25) planet fitness will be opening up in Fremont by potter village and intend to take my business there for HALF the price with a new building with equipment.

Hope this review finds you well DJ and thank you very much for the very poor experience and that smug look you gave me as you told me it isn’t your issue. I look forward for my reimbursement for my last month of march that you “promised” will be in my account within the next few days *if* that’s even happens.

There are way too many kids, and no structure. Learn to kick with a board then they are on their own, basically. Till last 15-20 mins, where they just jump off the board.. no instruction, no real lesson.. total waste of money..

Pretty sure I will be cancelling my membership! First off none of the staff have any answers. Kids play room is not staffed (once since I joined) and i had to learn on my own what was available here. I just packed up a bag and kids for an evening at the Y only to be able to sit here because my 7 yr old cant go in the child room.

Staff is pretty friendly. The indoor track is ok. That's about where the good stops. The whole place is just gross, extremely outdated, and smells musty. The cardio room reeks of mold and mildew as soon as you go through the door. The ventilation looks so dirty, and it's always hot in there. I don't think there is any AC except for the front area. Between lifeguard shortages, dirty, broken down things, this place pretty much needs to be demolished and rebuilt. Makes me feel gross that I work out in there and am probably breathing in mold and asbestos. Hands down one of the worst ymcas I have seen.

You will cancel your membership and they’ll keep charging you, then try to gaslight you saying it’s your own fault when you confront them. Trash administrative faculty, will do the bare minimum for you.

Went there as part of the Coaster Classsic basketball tournament and the facilities are lacking. It was extremely hot with no A/C or airflow. The court was marked with painters' tape. It was embarrassing.

paid 20 dollars a month for over 2 years now they’re raising to $33… ran down old facility doesn’t warrant that cost especially considering the rec center is only 17 a month for yearly membership and they’re open 24 hrs. Sauna is broken down half the time, AC doesn’t work or they have it off everywhere except front desk, and you never see anyone cleaning the dusty weight room since pandemic has slowed down. They’re also charging me to cancel the membership because they only give you a small window to cancel it before they charge you again.

We took the kids to open swim. Was $12 for a family pass. We had 4 people, not sure what the limit is for how many people to a family pass. Pool is clean, and warm. Restroom and shower facilities were clean. They provide floaties and pool toys. Fun thing to do with kids in the winter months.
